If you have the right crafter job you can desynthesize e.g. Break down items to materials for use!
You can also.donate them to your Grand Company for easy Company seals!
Or you do what I do and put everything that even looks remotely like you can use it for glam onto your retainer.
Which will lead to much bigger problems.down the line...
So I'd recommend getting the GC seals ^^
Place the items into one of your two retainers, your saddlebag, your glamour dresser or your inventory. Destroy gear that you don't need anymore if it's easy to obtain, such as crafted gear from the market board, tomestone gear or dungeon loot.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

In the games settings there's an option you can disable.
Character settings > Item Settings > Store all newly obtained items in the Armory Chest.
IF you uncheck that box it keeps any gear pieces you pick up or obtain in your inventory instead of auto automatically dumping them in your armory chest..
Persoanly I think it's a cool option as the only gear that then ends up in your armory is stuff you actually equip. Any junk you obtain from dungeon loot chests or roulette rewards stays in your inventory where you can easily desynth it vendor it. Turn it in for gc seals. Makes it much easier to keep organised. Especially nice when you're like a level 70 job and the levelling rouleete gives you a piece of gear for your job at level 53 or something...

Don't feel too attached to any gear you are getting right now. Most gear in the game is very easy to reacquire if needed. For now you can either toss or sell anything you don't need.
If you rank up your grand company enough, you can also turn in most of your gear for seals.
Take any extra gear or old gear for your class to your GC and turn it is as an expert delivery. You will get rid of the item and get company seals
