Yep just like i said it would Gather enough / what you really need. Like i said so many time in this topic it would get you junk and maybe rare items but at least now we have a dev to make everyone clam down.

Why do morons automatically jump to the worst conclusions:

"Retainers can gather for us? Oh no, that means gathering is doomed forever!! /FML"

Um...

1) I doubt their gathering will be so powerful as to make it worthwhile to rely on it for very much.
2) If you actually enjoy gathering... then, well, you know... GO AND GATHER YOURSELF AND DON'T USE RETAINER FOR IT.

Maybe because its another easy mode mechanic from other easy mode games that we dont need copy and pasted to 14

Well, that's good to hear. I'm still fairly incensed about the "chore" comment, but at least it's a step. Here's hoping none of my other fears come true.

I think a few simple things can balance this:

1) charge a small fee
2) the retainer isn't avialable for other purposes while gathering
3) player must furnish the gathering tools
4) keep the amount of items obtainable to a reaosnable level (maybe based on the retainer level)
