    Doman Mahjong time controls

15 seconds per discard or call seems pretty excessive, and often leads to games running extremely long, even when you compare it to typical over-the-table play.

Most digital clients use a shorter per-turn timer, but allow a pool of "reserve time" to be used on difficult moves, resetting at the start of each hand: Mahjong Soul uses 5s + 20s reserve, Sega NET MJ uses 3s + 30s reserve, and Tenhou's fastest settings use 3s + 10s reserve (!!!), though it allows you to regain reserve time by making moves quickly.

I realize that Doman Mahjong is intended to be accessible for beginners, and extreme time controls would run counter to that, but FFXIV allows for hands of over 15 minutes before you even consider call delays + the waiting period on the hand summary screen. Completing a single tonpu shouldn't take an hour—especially in Advanced rooms, where players should be trusted to know what's going on.

Your thoughts? Do the current time controls feel right to you, or do you feel more at home under different settings?
