Latest EW Dungeon Can Only Drop Materia From Boss Chests

Just ran the new dungeon again with trusts and the chest that appeared after defeating the first boss only had a single materia IX in it. I can understand the side chests loading materia instead of equipment (which is still fairly frustrating when you're trying to farm for glamour purposes), but for the reward from a boss fight to be a materia IX is shocking.

Shouldn't this be adjusted so that if only one item loads in a boss chest, it prioritizes equipment over materia?

trust dungeons give half the amount of gear than non trust dungeons. The first boss chest only contains 1 item when doing it with players. I guess thats why they made it 0 with trusts

Hard to say if it's a bug or working as intended. They do want to encourage players to run dungeons with other players instead of using Trust but that seems like an unusual choice beyond the normal reduction in total loot/chests in a dungeon.

I don't think it's a bug or anything. I looked into Alzadaal's Legacy loot tables and saw that both the first and second boss can drop the Materia while the final boss doesn't. This is the same for the most recent dungeon as well (Troia) with the first and second bosses able to have materia drop from their chests.

I enjoy doing the trust system since I love seeing the character dialogue from it and it's also a less stressful way for me to try and get some gear along the way. I had never gotten Materia from boss chests before so the first time it happened I was confused and asking about it... and then when it kept happening I was getting mildly frustrated (I was wanting some of the gear for DRK and Summoner) because a lot of my drops were Materia rather than gear.

The first boss chest in any dungeon seems to now have a 50% chance of dropping nothing where it previously would have contained a belt.

This is F'n GARBAGE! Already on the fence about leaving this game and this is really pushing me out the door. Was trying to farm some glamour gear - 20 runs and I've found NOTHING!!!

Hmm, I do recall the first boss only seeming to drop materia, but the final boss of Alzadaal's Legacy does drop gear (as well as a chance at a minion and the orchestrion roll, as I've gotten all of that from it). I think you're just having rotten luck with the RNG god I'm afraid (I've run it exclusively with Duty Support though so maybe that has something to do with it?).
