you know what really grinds my gears? savage gear

i mean cmon i understand letting everyone have a chance to at least attempt savages. but even you have to admit it's kinda stupid that the crafted set for each new savage tier is actually BETTER than the previous savage tiers gear. like i said i can understand it meeting the min ilvl for entry so everyone has a shot but at least make the previous savage tiers gear be on the same ilvl if not like 5 ilvl above. outside of just doing it to do it the gear is essentially made worthless when in 8 months when you'd need the new gears ilvl the most, i can just go and craft/buy the new BiS. making the reward for savage (not talking about the feeling of clearing the actual physical reward) worthless. because why would i risk going through alot of PFs for a potential clear. when i can just wait til the last savage tier comes out and have a far easier time in the previous 2 tiers

now don't get me wrong them updating the ilvl cap each savage tier and expansion is perfectly fine. it's great cause it gives a reason to get new gear. but when the gear you put effort into getting from supposedly the "hardcore"/endgame raids is basically nullified on new tier release. it kinda takes the steam out of the sail for getting the new gear.

It does seem pointless for the crafted gear and normal raid gear to be 10 above the previous savage raid gear. It increases sales for the crafted gear, but there are a lot of people who would not have been at item level cap in the previous tier who will still buy it if it's the same item level as the previous tier cap. It doesn't feel good to throw all of your savage gear away when starting a new tier and it contributes to item level bloat for no reason.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.

It's all still perpetually good for glamour.

It puts everyone on an even keel for each tier.

Allows new players to hop in without having to farm bis from the previous tier.

If they wanted to do a middle ground they could have it so that savage/tomestone does have set bonuses attached to it that would otherwise put it in line with the crafted gear of the new tier. That way if you're appropriately geared then you can just go straight into the new savage encounters with previous gears -- and if it is your first time raiding the tier, or if you have been on a break then you can opt for getting crafted gear.

If previous tier savage gear and new tier normal/crafted was on the same level, nobody would need to farm anything unless you're going for 1st week parses and want optimal sub stats through a mix of crafted/ previous savage.
Crafted gear drops in price in a matter of one day or less but for statics that start on Tuesday it'd be a huge relief to just be able to use their previous tier gear in good consciousness instead of kniwing you miss a good chunk of vit, def and main stats by not going for crafted 1st day.
I wouldn't mind if crafted & normal raid gear would be on the same level as last tier savage and savage balanced around it accordingly. The times when you could make a pile of gil from selling it are long gone anyway.

no you don't make it even with crafted gear thats still making grinding the set pointless (the only reason i brought it up was because unfortunately that'll prolly be hte route they take cause heaven forbid people be rewarded for effort). and i'm not even asking for it to be super powerful just like 5 ilvl above the crafted set. there's is absolutely no reason average joe here who spends 2mil gil on a complete crafted set. (like one maybe two weeks of any gil grinding or hell leves if they have a crafter/gatherer). should be at a HIGHER power level than the person who put in the time and effort to grind the previous savage tier. like i said it's fine that crafted gear is the minimum entry point, i'm not saying it shouldn't. but i am saying it's unfair for those of us who put in the time and effort to clear savage content that the gear we worked for is immediately made useless when it'd be the most beneficial for us to have it

With the exception of the weapon, "average joe" can grind out tomestones and be the same gear level as Savage anyways. This doesn't even include the fact that the gear from Savage lasts a whole two patches (the patch it's released in, plus the odd numbered patch). I fail to understand why this is an issue.
