Cheat or Lag?

I was playing Crystalline Conflict and a player on the enemy team who was dead magically appeared right in front of me near my team's base. They appeared to go through the respawn animation and everything, but directly underneath the crystal rather than at their base as is typical.

Thankfully I have video footage of it and submitted a report to Square-Enix just in case, but someone suggested that it could have been lag? I don't know in any event in which the game could/would lag out so hard as for this to have happened though. I suppose I'm asking here if anyone has seen similar and can offer an explanation.

EDIT: Friend explained that it could have been a disconnect. I scanned through the video again to see but I didn't see a red pokeball of disconnect. I'm not 100% sure if it works differently in PvP but by all accounts it looked like the player just straight up died and then respawned later.

I would not put it past people to use position hacks to just teleport directly to the crystal after being KO'd since they've been using those in Frontlines since forever.
