Glamour Dressers , in our apartments/houses

Hi there everyone , so i have some time in game , and after all this i got an apartment in my FC house , some furnishing and all , so wanted my galmour dresser as well ....Seemed logical to me that i can buy one since its such an important part in game , applying glamours and so on , but ...did you know YOU CAN'T BUY ONE FOR YOUR OWN HOUSE .... Like how does that make sense , have to go back to an Inn or the GC squadron to do glam...like ..why ... So if you think the same give a hand we might get our wish come true

Something something spaghetti code, if they try to implement an item for that it'll break something. I don't know the exact details, but it is the basic gist of why we aren't getting that.

It, like many other features, has been a thing for years though. People have asked for Glam Dressers to be added to housing. You'd think they'd have sorted it out by now but alas. They only now just figured out how to let us change glamours in Sanctuaries, so I really wouldn't hold your breath.

They have said for the past 6 or so years that they cant put dressers anywhere else but the places that already exist. Moving them will down the server.

While this is true, there is absolutely no reason why we can't have a room similar to the workshop that has a glamour dresser.

Like, "Broom Closet", or even "Guest Room"

Close, if multiple people used it in the same location it crashed the servers.

I believe the key issue they've mentioned with the glamour dressers is that in order for them to be in use, they have to be able to load the entirety of the glamour dresser all at once on the server side. (Which makes sense; you don't want to trust the client to just tell the game what pieces of glamour to use, or someone would hack the client to be like "Sure yes I have that ultimate weapon I just added to the glamour plate, honest!" But to validate that yes, they do in fact have that glamour item, you need the glamour dresser loaded to say "Yes, that is in the set of glamour items legitimately in here.")

In any zone where you have multiple people (and thus might hypothetically have multiple glamour dressers open), evidently having all that additional state loaded in at the same time into a shared zone's overall zone state caused some... let's just go with "Issues". Hence why the glamour dressers exist only in solo instances (inn rooms, Grand Company squadron barracks, etc.), where the instance itself is (mostly) handled client-side, and you can kind of dodge that issue by virtue of having the few server-side things (retainers, glamour dresser, etc.) not need to be in an overall shared zone's memory.

I'd guess the reason they can't do an easy end-run around it is that the glamour dressers were probably written with various assumptions about game state and how it's communicated, thus making it difficult to disentangle with various other pieces. (I'd also guess that trying to untangle it in such a fashion is probably why the expansion of glamour dresser inventory slots has not been so simple as it feels like it ought to be.)

I see posts here saying there is no spaghetti code it's just an excuse at this point. I see people posting they want wards or housing instanced to fix multiple problems with housing, player limits, glam dressers and all. I don't know what to make of it. WoW used to have old code too and they updated it during one of the expansions after many years, so it CAN be done and everything that was once vanilla CAN be updated.

What I do know is I have no space left in my dresser collecting glams for only a few of the classes out of all that they have to play. Maybe merge the armoire with it to give more space? Better yet, I would REALLY like a system where once we obtain any item it kind of checks it off on a list back end that my character has unlocked it (or account wide if you want to be nice like WoW did when they implemented something similar) and we can then choose our items to make outfits from that already collected list.

IF I HAVE to have the item physically in my glam dresser to make a plate for, make it like ESO recently did and allow me to spend a glamor prism or something to recreate that item FROM my checked off list of already obtained gear, and then store it in the dresser to make a plate from it.

WoW used to have old code too and they updated it during one of the expansions after many years, so it CAN be done and everything that was once vanilla CAN be updated.

I was a warlock main since vanilla. We have almost always had some of the best armors in the game for over 17+ years. I don't understand your comment.
