Yeah, decoration gardens is a nice touch and also for some /gardening stuff would be neat, instead to use only pots.

Also i would love to see the possibility to create something for large guilds, like castles. They could be built and spread around the world in various zones (istanced maybe), like on a cliff or in a forest.

    Can we dream?

You know, I wonder if we could have the ability to build a basement as well, or even a sort of player dungeon. <_<; Perhaps we could put captive monsters or something in there to fight against, or maybe create a sort of area full of traps, mazes, surprises, and more.

Or maybe just another place to hang out and decorate, since unless there were prizes and the monsters dropped loot I wouldn't see much point, lol. Unless maybe you could create your own ideal monster hunting grounds to exp in?

You are going to create a game in the game eheh (sort of 'dungeon keeper'). It would be nice in any case. In that case, a new class could pop up... beastmaster or so. Infinite possibilities..

Tangent: i think if this topic was in General forum, it would have had more responses.. :/

Probably, but this is the feedback forum for categorized stuffs, so here it is. <_<; I keep hoping a mod will respond on the dev teams thoughts, hehe. Still, a game in a game isn't such a bad thing. If for instance, you let players create dungeons and content and the like, you suddenly increase the dev team from it's standard number to the entire player base, and there's always some wannabe game designers that come out with the most awesome of ideas when you give them the tools to do it. Creating content that lets players create their own content from such building blocks starts an infinite loop of content goodness! \o.o/

That's right, Moblin Maze Mongers. I guess you could have player dungeons in the basement with the same concept, where you could have players making challenges for others to take on, with prizes to be had, both as drop rates from NMs put in there and from points earned and spent on gear, like Moblin Marbles. MMM has fallen a bit by the wayside with better gear than it from abyssea though, as well as better exp.

I really like the mog houses in FFXI, I would be happy with something much the same. It would be nice to have more in depth customization but as long as we can invite other players in I would be happy with that.

I'd like to put a retainer in there too as an option and leave my house open to visitors when I'm not home. One of my favorite things in EQ2 was visiting other people's houses.

It would be rather neat if you could let anyone visit your home, especially if we could have a sort of "address", where you can go down, say, Lily road in Gridania, and you have your own address there, and players could see your home from a distance and enter it. The problem would be whether the servers could handle such a thing though, although maybe there would be a way to have sort of invisible zone lines like the rest of the game, so that one area doesn't have too much lag. It would be pretty neat though if you could build your house in an available street and number though, especially if you could wander the streets and visit open houses, sightseeing.

I would really like to know from devs if there are plans for housing (in general), in the near future. :/

Agreed Munba. I also really like the original post, I'd love to spend the time improving it for such useful purposes, as well as an area to call my own within Eorzea. Hopefully we hear more on housing in the near future - some kind of personal space is common in most MMOs outside World of Warcraft.

*Edit* Found my keyboard and plugged into my PS3, so that I could give a more proper response, considering you have obviously put a lot of time and thought into that original post, and I'd love to see something like it in the game.

One of the things that I do believe is truly missing is the housing - in my first MMO, Star Wars Galaxies the purchase of your first house was only matched by the purchase of your first vehicle - generally you'd have the slowest vehicle and smallest house, but it was something of your own in the game, your own personal space that would not be identical to others, no matter the best loot or class of the day, that was your first sign of having made something of yourself in the game (If you don't know how it used to play, I wont go into it - it isn't important) particularly since you also got to place it almost anywhere in the game world you chose.

Add to this the ability to buy crafting machines (very similiar to the skills you talk of, like the ones you can receive from NPC in guilds currently) and let others come into your house, it was great. I remember at one point I was having graphical issues that I didn't know how to solve, though inside my home was fine, and all sorts of folks turned up to chat, sitting in the chairs, having a blether - it felt much more natural (and private) than standing around in a city. It was also possible to set up machines/assistants in your home with personalised lines to sell your goods for you. It was really cool searching on the Bazaar for an item and seeing it listed for sale on, for example, Naboo at co-ords X,Y then heading out there to find someones home.

It really makes you feel like the world persists, even when you are not there, rather than things being stagnant as theme parks can often times feel. To be honest, thats one of my main draws to FFXIV at the moment as well. Knowing that if you open your home to the public that people could make use of your facilities (perhaps for a small charge, ohohohoh!) would be great, or even just so they could pet your chocobo :P

As you mention, Minecraft and the Sims are hugely popular games and as of the moment FFXIV doesn't do a particularly bad job of catering to various types of gamer - I'm not much of a crafter, and tired of fighting in games, but I love gathering and knowing the things I gather go on to make further products in the future - I also remember people in Star Wars Galaxy who never picked up a weapon in their life, subsisting on crafting and creating amazing homes. The amount of entertainment such ability adds can never be underestimated, and I know I'd personally love to be involved in gathering the raw materials needed for players to build such things, and know that we were making another player happy in their virtual home.

Anyway, I love your idea, and definitely hope we see something with even 1/5th of the depth come their (hopefully) eventual inclusion.
