New lottery system will only get worse from here and solves no REAL issues.

The problem with XIV housing before lottery was ALWAYS that there simply was not enough. The problem AFTER lottery is still: there is not enough

As of now your chances of actually winning a plot are EVEN lower and will further shrink as time goes on. After the Empyreum lottery is resolved we'll have further less plots to choose from in game scattered among the other residential districts and with each progressive lottery period the number will shrink further while the losers hop from lottery to lottery hoping to win but also having an ever-shrinking percent chance to actually win as the competition for each lottery progressively condenses. Eventually we'll have hundreds of players bidding on a single plot and each individual will have less than a 1% chance at winning said plot and at that point you'd have had a better chance at outclicking the old bot players.

Not to mention the first EIGHTEEN wards are now restricted to FC-only. There aren't even that many FCs on most servers that meet the newly added player activity requirement to even PURCHASE a house. Increase the personal ward spaces.

The problem was never "damn I don't have an equal chance at winning" it was always "why do I even have to compete this hard." The solution is to simply add more housing or add instanced housing. Square Enix is not some small indie company and it's about time we stop pretending that the multi-billion dollar global conglomerate can't afford dedicated servers for instanced housing/additional wards.

Anyone who starts a solo FC today will in all likelyhood be able to enter in the very next lottery. That means all those homes are there for the taking with next to no competition.

It's not at all hard, or time consuming to make one, and you get a home all your alts and friends can properly share, far better than the tenant system.

100% this. The next lottery that goes out is going to be a salt mine and as you've said, fighting the placard bots you had a better chance now it's far more people competing for the same plots. The people who wanted a lottery got what they wanted with "more fairness".

There, I fixed that for you. WE have never pretended, just want that to be clear.

No no, the playerbase 100% pretends like SE can't afford to buy more server hardware. Happens a LOT. There's even people on these forums pretending like there's no housing problems:

Honestly there is no problem with housing, there is only a problem of greed. Everyone wants a palace. This is the real problem.
A lot more of the XIV playerbase is in rampant denial than you'd think LMFAO

The denial comes from those thinking that everything is as simple as having money when it's not.

There needs to be manufacturers with the hardware available to buy. There has been a legitimate supply problem affecting all industries though that has started to ease.

There also needs to be contracts negotiated with the locations hosting the hardware and physical space at those locations for the hardware to be installed. That can be the most difficult part of the process. If there's no room, then they have to find new locations, set up new contracts and arrange to move and install everything at the new location.

SE might have money but they can't control if the third parties involved will be able to accommodate what is needed.

It's not the lottery itself causing the problem. SE easily could have chosen not to put purchase designations on the wards so FCs and individuals were still competing against each other in the lottery just as they were competing in placard camping.

This has been ongoing for almost 8 years now. Well before the pandemic was even on the horizon. Supply shortage or not doesn't matter if SE doesn't want to do it.

The silicon shortage excuse only works for so long if you're a corporate entity with a name so large that suppliers would be JUMPING to do business with you. Plus they've had almost a decade to design/implement a better housing system with actual dedicated hardware to support it and STILL haven't. At this point it isn't even a complaint about "why isn't it being done NOW" it's a complaint of "why WASN'T this done SOONER." We'll PROBABLY still be here 5 years from now when they've only added 3 extra wards and doubled the lottery time thinking "GOD WHY IS IT STILL NOT FIXED EUGHGHGHG" because nobody wants to admit that this problem could have and SHOULD HAVE been solved YEARS ago.

While Square may have some clout what they don't have is volume guarantees. The vast majority of silicon has been going to the automotive industry and even they cannot get enough.

It will easen up when auto demo is put back on as well... you would regular see plots opening up, now you just don't have to click the placecard for two days and then only maybe, be getting then and then accusing SE for getting a wasted wrist or the likes... go click place bet.... the roulette rolls on the day of the end of the lottery, if you win, you win.. if not try again next plot... everyone entered want some kind of property be it a FC or Private house.
