It's designed for RP players, or players that want that extra dialogue to have an option to do. How ever the flaw is it emphasizes that aspect to much vs those that want to just get to the next location and move on. It all kind of goes back to an issue with ffxiv where is tends to lack options over all with the MSQ and leveling in particular.

    Only gets worse in endwalker.

Other than the quota amount of dungeons/trials, think I fought 3 things total, and two of those were (spoiler character) and (spoiler character).

They fixed that this patch actually. You can use aetherytes now.

I would not consider that super-rushed trope-laden story with shitty 1-dimensional characters (minus dohalim) that completely goes back on its main plot point with a HAHA GOTCHA NANOMACHINES SON and WACKY APPLE-CORE ASTROPHYSICS BULLSHIT twist near the end to be good by any measure. Nor would I consider a game which completely abandons its past very expressive artstyle for shitty 3dCG with limited expression as a cost-saving measure to be good. Nor would I consider a game where the AI crap out randomly in combat because HAHA CHALLENGE LUL to be good. Nor would I consider a game that has intentionally front-loaded difficulty to encourage you to buy microtransactions to be good. Nor would I consider a game that has you have to PAY for DLC in order to get the second healer's AOE skill good. Nor would I consider a game that gutted features that were key to past titles to be good (multiplayer). Nor would I consider a game that eschewed the quirks of previous titles that added to the series charm like victory scenes and more comedic scenes in the name of SRS BSNS SRS GAME to be good. Nor would I consider a game with worse AI than its predecessor yet restricting you to AI only companions to be good. And so on and so forth.

Arise is a disgrace to the tales series as a whole on par with what FF13 was to the FF franchise, and you should feel bad for getting duped by good graphics and awards (That were only won because the game had little to no competition that year). I'm also very dissapointed that this trash fire is what is going to be the series "new direction".

I think FF14 is great. I love the combat. I love the community. Far better than WoW's community.

But this MSQ...I just can't do it.

So I lay down my sword and give up.

I'll be back one day. But for now, I need something that is paced a bit better between story and actually getting to do something.
    I agree. Enjoy your break!

FFXIVs style of having a more story/RP/immersion focused leveling system vs the standard of collect 10 bear butts isn't for everyone.
I do wish their was more combat in it, although duties tend to be better than what most MMORPGs offer in their leveling experience

At the end of the day the EW MSQ, while not paced as well as ShB, was still far better than any expansion outside of FFXIV. Compare it to the tedious quest hub nature of even TBC/WotLk and FFXIV wins, for me. That said, Id rather go kill 50 crocodiles for Hemet then find 40 NPCs in a circle with more hiding places then should be possible though.

Haha yeah some places when I finally found someone I was like "I CHECKED THERE"

SE gave them all some Invisibility Cloaks or something

Though I will say the notorious frustration has made that memorable and is something players can commiserate over like finding the Doman kids. So I don't find it all bad.

I agree about solo duties, it's a great way to experience the story vs watching it and I think they should do more of them. The atmosphere from that solo duty in Garlemald was actually amazing, I felt fully immersed and was actually getting frustrated at myself and my character in a good way. There needs to be more of that instead of cutscenes, in my opinion.

Don't worry, I actually agree with your point. I never played the previous tales game, only know about them bits and pieces. So, as a "casual and new" tales player, it's an okay game for me. Yes it can be difficult, but I enjoy the combat. Not saying I don't recognize their attempt for pushing microtransaction though.

As for my previous comment, my point is that ToA has a balanced cutscene:gameplay ratio, at least in my opinion. Unlike endwalker which has too many lengthy cutscenes.

Another problem is approaching the MSQ like one might for WoW or another MMO where endgame is the only game, which simply isn't true. There is a lot of content between every expansion and tons of side content with all different kinds of objectives to go after. BLU content, Gold Saucer, past endgame bosses (level 50, 60, 70, 80), Deep Dungeons, Eureka, Bozja, Treasure Maps, Crafting/Gathering, Leveling other jobs, and now PVP is actually thriving.

If you're trying to bum rush endgame because you think you have to, then please take a moment to stop and explore what's available to you now. There is far more to enjoy and explore than jut level 90 content.

There's a lot of content between every expansion, that has been dead since we moved from that expansion.
