I agree with the OP. I'm a lorehound, I love all kinds of fluff, and I find it really helps with my enjoyment. New jobs and classes should have more realised storylines.

That being said Musketeer already has a guild hall and back story. Musketeer c'mon!

I liked the middle eastern theme but I'm a bit curious to how the original blue mage gear would look in 14's art style.

One possible idea with the remaking of the world would be guilds for new classes set up by people who have come across the sea top help rebuild the world. Limsa is a seafaring nation and it seems plausible that maybe a foreign sailor or passenger could bring the new knowledge with them. New lore could also be found in the wreckage once the moon lands, it is after all artificial. Or the crash could unearth ancient ruins with scrolls allowing the re-emergance of forgotten skills. There are a thousand ways to introduce new jobs which don't require an expansion zone.

i say they finally give us the far east that was promised back in FFXI. this is the perfect platform to see that vision realized!

This right here is exactly what I'm not in favor of. It is straight up lazy design practice.
Wouldn't it be better to get a full immerse experience that is worth your money?

I don't think it's lazy at all. We already have refugees in little Ala Mhigo. The Galka in Bastok were immigrants from another land. The SAM job was learned in a den of smugglers. If we look at the real world we find that most eastern martial arts were introduced to the west by immigrants and travelling teachers. The zones we have are to be remade after cataclysmic destruction, they will be essentially different. It seems acceptable to me that some people may have been displaced by the cataclysm and bring new knowledge with them or that travellers help reshape the world in a new image. We do not neccessarily need far off new lands to introduce new lore when the whole world is being made anew. We cannot expect an expansion with 2.0 or possibly for some time afterwards, but these ideas allow for the introduction of some new jobs before an expansion.

Need it be always a far eastern empire? Why not a far western city state like Sharlayan?

But in 1 point you are right. SE should first bring the classes who have already a home in Eorzea. You hear SE? Bring first Arcanist and Musketeer. Save the other classes for the first expansion pack.

    Mmm. Musketeer.
I really would love to actually use some double flintlock action.

BLU, COR and PUP was implemented very well in FFXI. It was well worth my money to travel to the Near East and experience that lore first hand. With your analogy, I'll like to add that SAM and NIN was brought to us by an expansion pack with new zones. The fact of the matter is the nature of these new jobs came from somewhere. The AF, the weapons, and skills all came from there. I don't want any lazy attempt offering me a cheap watered down experience especially since we're all paying customers.

Look up the Heavenstrum event, it's already implying the far east, with Kabutos and all. The far east is playing another role in this game. Again. I was referring to FFXI, if we're going to see those eastern classes/jobs come in, I'd like them to hold off until we reach their nation, personally.
