Dragonsong Ultimate Lore [Save Haurchefant version] Discussion

For those who don't know Yoshi-p added a new Mechanic where players will have alternate path for Ultimate mode with Dragonsong Ultimate. For this players will get the different Ultimate Mode path on phase 1 where they either don't save Haurchefant leading Ultimate mode to retell the events of Dragonsong war in Ultimate Edition but if players Save Haurchefant, the Wandering Minstrel will change the Story of the Dragonsong war to be a What if Haurchefant lived scenario which completely changes the Ultimate Mode boss fights.


I am curious for anyone who manage to take the Save Haurchefant path of Dragonsong Ultimate, how much of the Dragonsong story changes due to Haurchefant being alive?

I only seen the start of Phase 2 of the story for Save Haurchefant path being the story is changed that Thordan started to corrupted Dragons into his minions due to the loss of his Knights since the WoL manage to defeat all of them and save Haurchefant. (which also changes Phase 2 mechanics due to this lore change)

I am envious, I wish my AUs caused deeply cinematic and detailed visions of a future that could never be.

At the moment we don’t have the full story but it seems

Saving Haurchefant leads to Thordan succeeding at Azys La, which allows him to temper the dragons. Given the screenshots we’ve seen I think we can speculate what happens next.

Thordan also tempers Hraesvelgr and Nidhogg, who we defeat at the Steps of Faith. Taking their eyes Thordan powers himself up even more and tries to kill the WoL. He fails, the souls of the dragons consumed by him are freed, and the tale ends with these events being remembered like they are in the real timeline.

It doesn't seem like Hraesvelgr is tempered because he's bound by what appear to be Allagan neurolinks. I'm not sure where Nidhogg would even come from considering that Thordan still has the eyes in this alternate timeline, though.

Thordan's knights are very much still present and perform attacks in tandem with the tempered dragons (Who unsurprisingly bring back several mechanics from Twintania and Nael).

It was a bit thoughtless for the sake of those who might not've finished HW, though the description for the instance as well as the pre-quest both make it pretty obvious that saving Haurchefant would be a key part of the encounter.

It was a bit thoughtless for the sake of those who might not've finished HW, though the description for the instance as well as the pre-quest both make it pretty obvious that saving Haurchefant would be a key part of the encounter.

You can't see the description in game without having finished at minimum 6.0 so, if by that point you don't know Haurchefant's fate then maybe you shouldn't have skipped cutscenes.

Plus the description only says "a dear comrade" of which we've narratively had many between 2.0-6.0

I'm not sure on the specifics, but all I think about it when I hear it is, "How did Thordan even reach Azys Lla then?" The Wandering Minstrel really just be forgetting that the WoL and the Ironworks had to team up to go Sky Whale hunting? Maybe the Ascians killed Bismarck for him?

I don't think the Minstrel thought this through...

Let's not forget the garleans too, and even if Haurchefant survived. I don't see how that stops us from chasing Thordan, as we were already chasing him. It's less mourning and more actions.
But then again, ultimates are not meant to be taken with a lore value.

I can only guess Minstrel is assuming WoL and friends wasted sometime getting Haurchefant to recover from his injuries so they arrived too late to stop Thordan due to that delay.

Funny enough, we have known for a while most people only know WoL from the crazy stories being told to them from random people and bards. Atleast we know who has been make most of those crazy stories.

Not to mention some of those stories may have WoL's appearance altered to fit the storyteller's narrative which explains why despite WoL being famous, people won't recognize him/her at first due to how crazy the stories are and how some of those stories may have altered WoL's appearance.
