The game does have regional prices, just not for regions the game is not officially supported in. Tough break for you I guess.

I sure do love all the alternatives I have to Comcast and Youtube. :^)the profitability is a result of competition as well. So, some cuts in prices and promotionals are made considering competition. It's like the appeal and incentive for more consumers to buy your product in a multitude of options. Oligarchy or monopoly forces all prices to be the same and only occurs where there is no competition.

Here at Brazil we have 2 ways to subscribe for FFXIV: 1- SE account directly. 2 - via Steam version.
Since the Steam version give us a cheaper subs value, almost ALL brazilian players use the steam version to pay less.
In a competitive world, all companies relay on appeal, promotions, discounts, etc to keep their profits. So, competition is a good thing for the consumer
If we only have SE version of the game, I believe 50% (or more) of hhe brazilian players would be playing other games right now... (again, by - lack of - competition).

The problem is, we do have regional pricing for the game itself in Turkey but not the subscription fee. As of 13 May, the Complete Edition of the game on Steam that includes everything including Endwalker is 174 TL, but a month of subscription is still 10.99€ which is 176 TL, more than buying the whole game. It's 10 hours of work in minimum wage for a month of playtime.
It is not officially supported in Russia any more than it is in Turkey. You can play the game, support only available in English but subscription prices are ridiculous in Turkey. The game does have regional prices, just not for regions the game is not officially supported in. I would think currently without steam in some countries they would not make any at all, so they are not making less money by making it a value similar. The number will look the same but the value and feasability of getting that money in the same time differs. You can't just convert directly dollars to say Russian Ruble or something and expect it to be the same. People don't make the same amount of money if this makes sense. Sure 14 dollars is converted to 915.25 rubles but how much of that do people make an hour on average to achieve this.( also what is the rate being charged by square via mogstation compared to the steam varient I think it is 832.51 rubles for mogstation and 259 rubles through steam) I don't know personally but my friend who is from brazil will never buy their conversion through squares website. It is just too much and has not been thought out or converted well. At least steam fixed this, but it would be nice for them to understand this.
Edit: so according to google the average hourly wage is 70.50 rubles to make the amount to play ff it would be roughly 12 hours. I suck at math so someone feel free to correct. If we do the same thing for us dollars to make the subsciption of 14.99 and minimum wage is 7.25 it would take rounding up 3 hours time to or 2 to make the sub in US. It is more affordable and makes more sense with the amount steam is charging because it is just more affordable. How many people have minimum wage in these places? How many people do they wish to pay for their game? If I had to work 2 days 6 hours a day compared to US who just work a few hours just to play final fantasy I would see this as unfair and it would just not be worth it.
Sorry if information on google is outdated I just looked up the basic stuff and went with the first couple of links for speed of edit.
