You are thinking of an oligarchy. Capitalism would give wiggle room for competition, an oligarchy would strangle any upstart business that would cause troubles for an existing company.

the profitability is a result of competition as well. So, some cuts in prices and promotionals are made considering competition. It's like the appeal and incentive for more consumers to buy your product in a multitude of options. Oligarchy or monopoly forces all prices to be the same and only occurs where there is no competition.

I sure do love all the alternatives I have to Comcast and Youtube. :^)the profitability is a result of competition as well. So, some cuts in prices and promotionals are made considering competition. Here at Brazil we have 2 ways to subscribe for FFXIV: 1- SE account directly. 2 - via Steam version.
Since the Steam version give us a cheaper subs value, almost ALL brazilian players use the steam version to pay less.
In a competitive world, all companies relay on appeal, promotions, discounts, etc to keep their profits. So, competition is a good thing for the consumer
If we only have SE version of the game, I believe 50% (or more) of hhe brazilian players would be playing other games right now... (again, by - lack of - competition).

The problem is, we do have regional pricing for the game itself in Turkey but not the subscription fee. As of 13 May, the Complete Edition of the game on Steam that includes everything including Endwalker is 174 TL, but a month of subscription is still 10.99€ which is 176 TL, more than buying the whole game. It's 10 hours of work in minimum wage for a month of playtime.
It is not officially supported in Russia any more than it is in Turkey. You can play the game, support only available in English but subscription prices are ridiculous in Turkey. The game does have regional prices, just not for regions the game is not officially supported in. Tough break for you I guess.
