I'm a New Zealander playing on EU servers. Since the servers are on the other side of the planet, the lag is crazy. On good days I get 290ms minimum, while on bad days it can easily go above 330ms.

With lag this high, these kinds of things often happen:

Also, after work at 5pm my local time, it's 5am over in Europe. There's no one online in-game! Right now I'm waking up at 6am to go raiding with my static. We raid from my 6am to 9am when work starts.

I want to play on Oceania's 50ms latency and timezone, but I don't want to leave my friends and FC in EU.

Until they do, (and I hope it will happen for you) please do consider making an alt on Materia and come join us for some great fun! Lots of new local friends to add to your old ones in EU. Bismarck or Sophia might be good choices in a server.

As EU is empty then, you will have a lot of time at your 5pm to 10pm window to get a local based alt up to speed without disrupting your EU main in any manner

I have one! But as an achievement grinder, outside of doing some raids or extremes with the FC there, I feel like it's wasted productivity if I'm not on my main >.<

You could transfer your character and make an alt on EU to keep in contact with your friends.

my main on siren .. and I am levelling a alt on Bismarck because of this reason . I would be playing with my friends on siren with my toon that has got all the event items over the years of playing . but i had to make a toon on bismark because the lag is that bad that my fc didn't what to take me into hard fights. so now I go see them on the weekends and play my alt during the week.
