Some older threads have asked before why we can’t glamour Summoner’s Level 90 summons to be carbuncles instead, even if they’re not gigantic and are instead the small-sized ones since they’re still really cute and also less visually distracting during high-level content; I’m aware that you can change the sizes of summons, but that’s not the same, and it’s still weird that you actually lose glamour options after maxing out your job.
But really, it shouldn’t just be limited to carbuncle options, because why not also allow for egi glamour choices? The possible concern that somebody wouldn’t realize what kind of a summon they are doesn’t make sense since you would still see their color, even less if it ends up only being a client-side thing. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a Level 90 summon versus a lower level either for unsynced lower-level content since everyone still knows your level through the party list. The Level 90 summons do mechanically differ slightly in that they cast their introductory spells right from wherever they appear rather than first running up to the enemy if they’re far away, but would it really be that hard to add some new animations that indicate carbuncles and egi doing a distant cast instead?
I legitimately can’t think of why having less glamour options for elemental summons once you reach Level 90, but not at any point before that, would be logical game design. When you have some people on the forums wishing that their job capped at Level 89 instead of Level 90 because the increased customization options are considered better than a slight potency increase and elemental summons not having to run up to the enemy, I think there’s a perplexing limitation and weird inconsistency that Square Enix should spend a brief amount of time to address.
…Plus I really miss being able to summon four different carbuncles instead of one… I find the carbuncles far more adorable than a humungous rock monster or (admittedly cool-looking) red demon.
