Increase EXP from side quests once main quest complete or max lvl a class

It seems that the exp from side quests is so low that it makes them a pointless choice for leveling. That seems like a huge waste of content to me. Maybe it could get a boost once a class has hit max so it doesn't offset the main quest too hard.

I was thinking increase the exp a bunch so you could level that way for alt classes but not outstrip the main. So maybe a buff once you get one class to max, and a buff once you complete the main story...or maybe once both are done. Just something to not massively shift the game but give us some options and reason to do any of that currently very under appreciated content.

Under appreciated because the rewards vs time are so unbalanced.

Some of the side quests literally take about 30 seconds. On average, maybe 2-3 minutes.

I must agree. I just completely ignore them until I feel like doing them, which is usually when I'm already max level because the exp is so low it's not even worth considering.

    I'd say gil but...

XP is so easy to get though. Even on your first job just doing the MSQ alone and you'll be maxed level long before you finish it. I think you could probably max at least two jobs on it.

I'd say boost the amount of gil. WoW had a mechanic that if you are maxed level and would get XP for doing a side quest...you would be rewarded with more money instead. I'm not sure of the percentage but I think it was like 5% of the total xp was given as extra gold instead...which adds up quickly.

However other than housing...there is nothing to spend gil on. I practically bought my crafting/gathering levels just by GC turn ins and would just buy HQ items and turn those in. Now that everything is maxed again...my wallet keeps increasing with nothing to burn it on.

And they give almost no exp. You make more killing a few things in the same time. It really is very lopsided.

Not saying it is hard to get. Just saying that right now side quests are not a way to play an alt through the game, and I think they should be. More options for play, and more styles. I personally like doing the side quests to level...or at least to break up the duty/kill farming grind. That being said...I don't do them at all in ffxiv because they just give nothing vs the other options.

Balance out the options by upping exp for side quests AFTER you do the main quest to get one class maxed seems like a good solution.

    Not true at all.

You might make more from the time investment by doing a FATE, but just killing random mobs, absolutely not.
And they don't want side quests to be more lucrative than FATEs, because then no one would do FATEs, they'd just do the sidequests where they can skip five pages of text in 30 seconds and instantly get 20% of a level.

Now maybe they could add a challenge log prize, a daily bonus for doing say, 1, 3 and 5 side quests, which are comparable EXP to doing 1, 2 and 3 FATEs respectively. That could work.

The main point of all the side quests is to add tons of little details to the local lore, for people interested in it. If you aren't one of those and skip skip skip all the dialogs, these quests are so quick to complete that you can not give them too much xp as a reward for nearly no effort at all. There is already enough people complaining of max level players not having a clue of how to play their job properly, we don't need to make that worse by allowing to level entire jobs just by speaking to a few npcs.

I disagree, nowadays Shared Fates make doing FATEs a more investment than doing sidequests but I do agree that sidequests could have more investment like maybe and title or achievment rewards just from doing the random sidequests. afterall even levequests have them.
