    As someone mentioned, the "target closest enemy" keybind is blank by default, so you could set it to any key you like. I leave tab as it is for PvE, and have 'R' set as target closes, which works well for me. Though the idea of making Tab target closest and R what tab used to do has a certain appeal, I may try that later.

    After seeing the cone target mentioned here I went off the deepend in terms of targeting and while I don't know the rules of providing third party links here, If you look up cone targeting ffxiv you should be able to find SaltedFFXIV's guide to targeting which shows that there a TON of options for keybinds and such in the menu such as:
    Target Last Target

    Targets the last target you previously selected. This includes both allies and enemies. If two targets have been chosen in succession. Repeatedly executing it will bounce between the two targets.
    Target Last Enemy

    Targets the last enemy you previously selected. Can only go back to the latest enemy.
