people want traditional jobs first.
Artist? You want something akin to Realm? That could get complicated in an MMO, although i'd love to hear ideas
Look at it this way, the ninja casts ninja spell and you see some kanji popping out of their head and the mob is paralyzed, or the black mage mumbles and waves arms and the mob is paralyzed or the dancer wiggles bottom and the mob is paralyzed or the bard does a musical fart and the mob is paralyed or the artist paints some picture from the Kama Sutra in the air with magic brush and the mob is paralyzed.
All that is different is the dressing (up), maybe one day there will be an artist job where actual skill is needed to paint commands with your touchscreen, that would be rather fun.
Ahaha, yeah, I know where you're going I just couldn't pass up a chance to point out that an 'artist' has, in fact, been part of Final Fantasy before! So there's canon if they wanna do it like that.Look at it this way, the ninja casts ninja spell and you see some kanji popping out of their head and the mob is paralyzed, or the black mage mumbles and waves arms and the mob is paralyzed or the dancer wiggles bottom and the mob is paralyzed or the bard does a musical fart and the mob is paralyed or the artist paints some picture from the Kama Sutra in the air with magic brush and the mob is paralyzed.

Regardless- An Artist job that plays out more or less how the special abilities system (specifically the draw ones) in Sonic Chronicles worked, that would be pretty boss
If you mean "run around doing nothing to contribute to the actual fight, spamming songs and being largely unattractive to the general populace despite the fact that encounters were balanced around the possibility of you being around", I will have to pass. FFXI's Bard is what made me hate the concept of "support". I was indifferent up until then.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Wow somebody is a grumpy pants! If you mean "run around doing nothing to contribute to the actual fight, spamming songs and being largely unattractive to the general populace despite the fact that encounters were balanced around the possibility of you being around", I will have to pass. I call it like it is. Few liked playing bard because all the job entailed was spamming songs with /WHM acting as supplement. Problem is, SE balanced stuff in XI around the fact that a BRD was present, which created a problem: Everyone wanted a BRD to maximize performance but the job was not appealing enough to create a sizeable pool of players that played the job. Hence the birth of the princess BRD.
For all of CoP I used to say that we wouldn't be having that issue if BRD was more battle-oriented like the best "support" class ever made, Lineage II's Blade Dancer. Unlike the song-spamming BRD, BD were insanely popular between being one of the only two classes that could dual wield and the fact the class was only slightly behind the DPS classes (despite it also having the best offensive buffs in the game). SE tried to do that with Corsair (even giving it the whole pirate aesthetic) and proceded to mess it up with how the decent ammo was not worth the cost to make.

Ah you speak for everyone, how stupid of me not to realise Mr President!I call it like it is. Few liked playing bard because all the job entailed was spamming songs with /WHM acting as supplement. I see people requesting jobs like SAM, NIN and SMN but it goes like:
Lets make a Strider class that unlocks Ninja!
Lets make a Ronin class that unlocks Samurai!
Lets make a Witch Doctor that unlocks Summoner!
Just some random classes nobody really cares about that exist for the sole purpose of unlocking jobs... that's just effing convoluted/over complicated/gimmicky.
I totally agree, so there shouldn't be anymore classes to be added UNLESS... unless it brings something new to the table then other classes can ever offer. A lot of casuals and hardcores were kept in mind for this diverse system and many of both have been humanly capable of taking all classes(if not just one) to lv.50. NO PROBLEM.
(strange idea but used in FF Tactics) There's no reason why a COMBINATION of classes(not jobs) can't be a solution to adding more jobs to unlock.
(Thumbs DOWN)If there are no more classes, you can have your Samurais, Ninjas, Dark Knights AND Summoners!
Right out of the box, no extra planning, unnecessary classes no armory system and maybe just maybe... more than one weapon to use!
Maybe we'll even be able to choose what jobs we want to sub... like that other game...
This is a negative movement/ plague to an already system we grew to know, get used to and love.
* The idea of the armory system was to switch classes on the fly. In the step it take to switch classes, you can switch jobs w/o going back to the inn or private room. What more can be convenient than that??
If the DEVs spoiled you as a player anymore, there's wouldn't be a time-sink and you be done playing before there's ever time to make more content. Beside, those ideas above my friend have been published before in a 10 year old MMORPG that's still on-going. FFXIV was designed to play differently. Ya have to deal with it my friends. Like the old saying, "Life should'nt be JUST about destinations BUT the journey".
