That's true... 2.0 could make the jobs seem more purposeful.This is a good point. Even after doing the Monk quests I got no sense of what kind of a place Ala Mihgo is. Is it Arabic themed? Is it Far Aastern themed? Why does the monk AF look like it's from Southeast Asia when "Little Ala Mihgo" looks like a shantytown version of Uldah? Why did I feel so unfulfilled by the job quests?
There's no context in the world for them. They're all "Oh now you can become something you've never heard of because they're SO RARE." They're tacked on bits of lore with no home. Can't enter Ishgard, can't enter Ala Mihgo, can't even enter the Paladin guard barracks.
But that's sort of detracting from the point of this topic. I trust that once the world is changed in 2.0 jobs will be way more integrated into the world.
The relevance to this thread though is that I don't want new classes added for the sake of "People want to do this or that in battle"
Adding a Samurai or ninja with nothing that even remotely references, alludes to or segues into their existence
You might as well petition for Cowboy or Astronaut
All the jobs in FFXI wasn't added as quickly as 'that'. It did take expansions to explain the lore and origins of each job. Not that FFXIV can't do that but it's taking this long for SE to even add more content while just fiddling with UI and other glitches in the game.
I'm all for Sam, Nin and even Thf jobs. Probably Thf should've been one of the basic job out there with Pld and Drg, WTH???
We need 'hate' control, a elemental-wheel wielder and maybe a master of skill-chains!
A bushido class would be apart from a marauder class(it's based on eastern martial arts) but it's still a two-hand weapon wielder. Bushido should be introduced as a new class and you can become a samurai with it. Would a Marauder be proficient with a Great Katana or Katana. I think more of a lancer would spin off to become a samurai and it would use both GKs and lances.
Thief should be a spin off of Monks(since they have the pounce ability) duel-wielding and such. From Thf to ninja because of the martial art back ground.
~'\[[_LEGACY_]]/'~TENTs because solo-friendly content forces me to want one!

not disagreeing. but not every one had 4 or more jobs at the max level like in this game either. people want more stuff to do than just spam Primals or Dungeons. i myself would like more lore added.All the jobs in FFXI wasn't added as quickly as 'that'. Hmm...thief would have to be less like a Final Fantasy thief and more like Ishikawa Goemon or Nezumi Kozo. I have no problem with Thief being reimagined as a class that leads to the ninja job. Don't know how others would take that, though.
No, we don't. This was a dumb gimmick that, along with Treasure Hunter, kept THF down and stunted its growth.We need 'hate' control
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
