Most people enjoying Crystalline Conflict are busy playing it. With rare exceptions, you're only ever going to get angry voices on the forums.

I enjoy Crystalline Conflict a lot, because it has great class identity and quick enjoyable matches where your contribution is palpable. In contrast, old pvp was an infamously miserable slog not worth touching with a ten foot pole. Frontlines still sucks but it always sucked and will never not suck due to it's basic design as an armed-mob management simulator.

Honestly, I have more fun playing unranked or even (gods forbid) frontline. Ranked takes a lot of the fun out of it since it puts you at the mercy of things you have absolutely no control of. I am almost always the top dps in my team, and more often than not in the whole match as well. I play objectively and strategically. I think I am a very decent player for the rank I am at (gold 2). Still, I lose just as often as I win, and since I hardly ever get streaks I have been stuck at gold for some time.

The problem is that although I know there is a lot of RNG involved (player matching, team composition, victory distribution, etc) I can't help but get upset when I am about to rank up to plat only to have a streak of eight losses. Something just like that has happened three times in gold already. I have 132 wins, I think, and 260 CC games total. The vast majority is ranked. Yet I am stuck. People with fewer games and worst win % are in crystal because they got one or a few win streaks.

I also get upset about the game balance. We all know it's terrible. I mostly play Dragoon (sometimes scholar or machinist), and though people *think* Dragoon is good, it is not. It's middle of the pack. The large damage numbers you see at the end hide the fact that Dragoon has no cc to contribute with the team, no utility, has difficulty finishing up retreating enemies - it has only 1 dash (the jump), no cc, and no speed % bonus - and a good deal of its damage is AOE, which is not as useful as single-target concentrated damage. Also, 1 on 1 it's the weakest melee DPS, losing even to monk and reaper. So, when I am playing with or against RDM or NIN, I know they are far more useful to the fight than I am. That if I picked one of them I would rank up faster. But I really don't want to.

So... yeah. For all these reasons ranked hasn't been particularly fun to me. I do have more fun playing unranked because then I don't get upset about my teammates or game balance. I just play whatever I want and enjoy it.

Still, for some mysterious reason, I want to get to crystal.

After about a month of the changes, no, no I am not enjoying the pvp changes.

Things were fun at first, as in the first week maybe while everyone was still getting used to things and the meta wasn't figured out yet. But things have just devolved into a frustrating mess of people clearly abusing poorly balanced mechanics, stacking the meta classes, or very blatantly abusing addons to instantly react to counter with inhuman timing. It's extremely obvious that SE put no effort into even attempting to balance frontlines, and that's really all I ever cared about.

If it weren't for the Garo event I would have stopped PvPing a couple weeks ago. Even now I'm questioning how much more I want to put up with it because I'm really not enjoying the time I spend in PvP. Most losses feel cheap because of extremely skewed teams, and most of my wins have also felt hollow for the same reason. Things used to be more tactical, now it's whoever can stack the most 'meta' classes and abuse badly balanced mechanics the most.

Yes, I enjoy PVP very much. I play PVP for fun, both CC and frontlines.

I have started to play FF14 four months ago - along with PVE, it has amazing PVP system.

    As a casual, my achievments:
    FL - MCH 17/2, NIN - 15/1, SAM - 15/0.

CC - NIN 15/1 (ranked, Golden), SAM 10/0 (regular).
Climbed ranked with NIN to golden ir 3 days.

If you want to know how bad PVP could be, try these major MMORPGS (Swtor - only 8 vs 8 and 4 vs 4) and ESO (4 vs 4 with zero balance and RVR zone where skills arent working/delays/freezes non stop).

If you do not enjoy killing other players for fun - than yes, FF14 do not offer any proper rewards. But for the funs sake - after 4 months its still amazing and thrilling to me. Peeeewp sound after every kill is so satisfying and addicting in FL

Pvp community seemed to enjoy the changes after awhile from what I saw and there's lots of new players mixing in, so I'd say it was a success. Classes have more game changing potential with lbs and while the simplified classes were disappointing at first they turned out to have enough nuance to keeps them from being boring.

Do I like it? Yes. I think there could be some changes to fix some of the more annoying stuff, but over all cc is a pretty fun mode. The direction the dev team took is reminiscent of overwatch with how it presents itself as team based but still allows for big personal game changing plays. Classes are fun, strategizing based on enemy team comps is rewarding, maps are simple yet intractable, the stun focus means you have to plan your actions, and the objective forces altercation both advantageous and detrimental. All in all, very solid revamp.

The new pvp is actually worse then before its only really active right now because it's fresh and new but it has so many flaws job balance is horrible.
Also there is zero reason to tryhard for ranked anymore with the top 100 rewards gone, you pretty much finish your series and your done for the season this can be done in a week.
Ranked rewards are super lacking who cares about some adventure plate background...

This sums up like half the reason I think it's a vast improvement, funny enough. The other half is split between 'healers are no longer invincible demigods that take perfect coordination to crack', 'matches don't overstay their welcome', and 'pretty much every class feels more enjoyable to play'. Balance certainly needs a little work here and there, but I'll take this mode with unfinished balance over a perfect form of the old mode.

you do get a fancy title for reaching a certain tier, and you only gotta do it once to get the title since it's the same each season

Did they confirm the plates and top 1/30/100 titles to be the same each season? It would be nice

no, the plates for top 100-31, top 30-2 and top 1 will change each season, as well as the title you get from it, since the plate shows a number, and the title refers to "the first" or "the initial" etc...
the plate frame kit and the title you get from reaching bronze/silver/gold/platinum/diamond/crystal seems to be the same every season since it has no seasonal numbers and the name of the title makes no reference to the number of the season
