I mean you won't hear me argue that FOMO as a concept is dumb. I'm just arguing against the apparent "need" for some people in this thread to collect everything, regardless of how unpleasant it is for them. Which to me doesn't sound healthy.

It is awful, I am only going to 25 and I'm done until next season rewards. Hopefully they will not be worth it to grind for.
Yes, I am enjoying the new PvP mode. I re-subscribed precisely to try it out last month. Climbed from unranked to Crystal in 3 days. Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday played the whole day. I played mainly Scholar. I was grinding for Series rewards. Got to level 30 and claimed all of my Trophy Crystals. However, there wasn't anything interesting to buy from the NPC using Trophy Crystals so I used most of them for Wolf Collars, bought some orchestration rolls, a pet I will most likely never use and some other stuff just to spend my Wolf Marks. I have played only two games since I joined Crystal. I stopped playing afterwards as there is no decay system and I do not feel like I want to compete for the top 100 or some higher rank.
I haven't played FFXIV that much outside of PvP, did the alliance raids and Endsinger because these were not out when I unsubbed.
Frontline feels weird. Tried it only once. But the healer changes brought to PvP are definitely an improvement.
What I basically do at the start of most games is -> Sprint - Aldo - Spread - Expedient - Biolysis - Spread - Try to survive, cast broil if possible, look for the perfect opportunity to spread DoT on all five enemies again - Use Aldo on the strongest DPS in team/targeted ally.I want to enjoy PvP in this game. Explain to me how you are having fun, perhaps we can all try to do what you are doing and you can help others enjoy this system.
It's simple but it's happening in a dynamic environment which requires adjusting and thinking a little bit more than scripted bosses as everything is much more chaotic in PvP. This is what I find fun.
If you are talking about the series system, it's just there to give people some sort of reward for playing PvP. Higher ranked players get more exp as well.

Lol who said anything about it being a disorder or mental health condition? It's just a shitty design system that punishes people who enjoy the game a certain way. That doesn't make it "not real" just because it's not a medical disorder.
If SE made a broken ranking system and matchmaking that made it unfun and frustrating to rank up, hurting people who play for the challenge and to prove their skill with a ranking (oh wait...) That is also a. a real design choice that is shit and causes people to enjoy the game less and b. not a disorder or mental health condition.
Nah I actually don't really have a problem with the series system right now. Yet. We'll see if SE makes the rewards unobtainable later but for now it's fine.
I more don't like the ranking rewards, if only because whenever I go into Portrait Editing now there will forever be 8 options per season that are just greyed out forever. They should just make the framer's kits season-independent, no one cares if you have a "Series III Diamond Frame". But really it's a minor gripe all things considered, especially since I'm never gonna use these ugly frames anyway.
The PvP is fun when matches are reasonably close/balanced instead of a one-sided steamroll, but I find it tends to be the latter more often then not due to people being exceptionally bad at reading the situation and knowing when to back off or go on the offensive.
No amount of spamming "Fall back and regroup" can dissuade some people from charging in alone and getting deleted.
