FOMO design benefits no one and is detrimental to many people. There's just no reason for it. Just because you, oh god-king of restraint, are not hurt by it doesn't mean others aren't.

I'm curious on an explanation as to why you think FOMO isn't real. It's a complex set of emotional responses that have been witnessed for decades now and used heavily in very successful marketing campaigns the world over. How is it nonsense anymore than any other emotional response? How is it any less of a valid consideration?
