Advice Request - Glamor Plates

Looking for advice if possible please?

I've been levelling my character through the Red Mage job and hit level 60 earlier. I purchased the Serpentskin Tights of Casting to use and placed said item in the Glamour dresser. However, when I tried applying it, and tried to save that plate, it wouldn't accept the Tights as part of the outfit I was trying to save.
So far as I can tell, Red Mage should be able use it, evidenced by the fact that I can equip it outside the dresser, but I don't seem able to save it as part of a new plate.

Could anyone please suggest what I am doing wrong? I have to confess to being pretty new to the whole 'Glamour plate' thing and am wondering whether I've overlooked something, particularly since (as noted) I can equip the item outside the Glam dresser.

At what point does it "not accept" the tights?

Are you having trouble putting the item on the plate, or applying the plate to your outfit?

If your issue is with applying the plate to your gear, a common cause is that your current leg gear is a lower level than the tights, so the glamour cannot be cast on it.

The issue was applying it - it's in the Dresser but won't save as part of the outfit.

However, you may have answered my question with regard to the current leg gear I have equipped - I hadn't considered that, and I'll double-check that when I log in next!

Hello again friend!

There is a chance it has to do with level. If you put the Serpentskin Tights in (which are level 60), they will not be able to apply to any gear lower than level 60.

Also.. not sure, but I don't know if you can glamour something with itself (as in you are wearing the tights and also want to glamour them as the tights)

I didn't have the tights equipped when tried Glamour plate. It would seem that, as both Iscah and yourself surmised, I was trying to Glam a level 60 outfit part over a level 56 outfit piece.

Random but great tip I found out yesterday for Glams.

/micon 15 gearset
/gearset change 15 9

This makes it show your current class and glam you have under it switches.
The example 15, is where my BRD is, 9 is where the glamor is.
The micon is so I know what job it's on.

It's also possible to simply link a glamour plate to a gear set, by right clicking onto the gear set.

While this is true, it also means you would need to use, say, 5 different gear sets using the same gear with links to your 5 glamour plates with each one needing to be updated as you get new gear, or one single gear set w/ glamour plate link with 4 macros.

It also means you could use those same 5 plates on another job without eating even more gear sets.

Probably not a BIG deal, but with 31 jobs total, and currently 47 maximum gearsets, you don't have a LOT of extra space for just glamours on your gearsets.

It's why I noted it as a possibility, rather than a replacement of using a macro for it. Some players might not be aware of this option, as the macro option already existed by the time SE added the Link to Glamour Plate one.
