Nice to see him encouraging people to be respectful and to keep trying even in a situation that looks hard to come back from. Kind of surreal to see it addressed now when it was happening many years before Crystalline Conflict but I guess the community is just so much bigger now, far more people have been affected in some way.

Some people don't think spam of quick chat and icons in a negative way is harassment, but it can really wear you down if it happens constantly. Marking your own ally with the ignore mark is particularly egregious. Here's my story.... Back in Feast, somebody in particular used to do that to me every match and they replaced it instantly with a macro whenever I removed it, so I was forced to wear the mark of a garbage person. It's a big distracting symbol over your head that follows you and others can see.

I was really trying to improve, but across many hours and days they constantly told me I am bad. Outside of the matches, they told me to stop being s***, that coordinating with me was like playing with a dishrag, and "everyone knows" that I suck since they spread the targeted negativity across external chat communities too.

Sometimes they would mark me less than 5 seconds into the start of the match "because I was sitting on full MP" as a DRK. I was going to shield somebody when I saw who the enemy are focusing but my reaction times aren't lightning. I said people should be allowed to play even if they're not top-tier; they just replied nobody is stopping you playing (but they won't stop harassing either.)

To attempt to climb the ladder, I had to deal with that stuff every step. It made me extra stressed outside of the game and I ended up yelling at my Dad after a particularly bad day, which he doesn't deserve. It wasn't long before I found out Dad had cancer and he died swiftly, so I still feel guilty about that day. You always have to remember you're dealing with real people online and you don't know their situation. Yes people reported that pvper by the way. Looks like they're still around now regardless with lv90 jobs.

The good thing about CC is that it's popular enough you probably won't be teamed with the same person repeatedly, except maybe at higher ranks and off-peak hours. I haven't been harassed there yet but I've seen it happen to other people using the old methods Yoshida detailed, even in the casual matches that I mainly stick to. This Lodestone post is a reminder that yes, it should not be tolerated.

They could never do that... that would give people the ability too... *gasp* "Tell people what they are doing wrong, that's costing the match." Fact of the matter is, this games community, not all, but most, cant handle criticism or any kind of negative feedback. at this point I'm surprised they still have chat in pve content, since most people do raiding in discord, etc. Nothing wrong with letting people vent some in a competitive mode; hell, even professional sport players get heated and say/do things they shouldn't have. its far easier to ban someone who SAYS exactly what they want, over just someone spamming "NICE JOB!" I remember way back when this game was somewhat new and I started to raid for the first time. I was cursed out, called trash, told to uninstall, etc. I didn't report anyone, I just got better cause I knew I was bad lol. People need to quit being so soft and look at why people are getting mad more so than just "oh they are being toxic in my competitive mode!" for all you know they could have been like me and ping ponged back and forth in platinum from 4-1 for 12+ hours. that's frustrating, and when you have teammates that just LEEROY JENKINS, over and over again, causing me and everyone else to drop from plat1 to plat2 or worse. if you don't want to try or expect to be carried/coordinate in the dumb way we only can atm, why are you in ranked? just go to casual mode and afk in the respawn where most people don't try anyways.

So many times I've wanted to tell that Ninja "DON'T DIVE IN" at the start of a match as they sprint and beeline for the enemy, cost so many matches.

This plus the recent changes to pvp job balance is very heartening to me. It shows that the dev team is serious about conducting thorough moderation of the mode, something pvp has lacked for a good long time.

This feels like another glaring example of the cultural disconnect between the devs and literally the entire rest of the world. The fact you cannot communicate any meaningful tactics or strategy or try to warn your team away from doing something stupid (I STILL see countless players not know you can guard through the wind storm on Cloud Nine or stand on the chocobo icons for a safe landing) because of the risk of offence or hurt feelings is while very Japanese, also completely useless when trying to play a tactical PvP battle mode. Especially when you can go from 100%-0% in a heartbeat.

I am not saying I want WoW style levels of unchecked vitriol going on either but there has to be something of a happy medium. The fact the developers seem more worried about fireworks and using prescribed PvP chat phrases than fixing win trading, cheating add-ons or the ridiculous amount of stuns/crowd control some jobs can throw out is rather concerning.
