    Monk is counterintuitive

In today's patch they fixed an apparent issue where enlightenment wasn't applying the extra damage. They have indeed fixed this now, but as an ability it is counter intuitive.

The way Enlightenment works is it adds a debuff "Pressure Point". If the enemy takes a hit from you either a weapon skill or LB they take an additional 12k damage. However the issue is how this is applied.

Its an effect damage, not stack so it can't be stacked with Rising Phoenix. In addition its attached to a large knockback, and pressure point only lasts 3 seconds. What this means is you HAVE to use thunderclap to chase your opponent down or the effect will fade and you won't get the extra damage. Further if you are stunned, bound, silenced, polymorphed slept or even some lag you won't be able to weapon skill them before the effect falls off and again the damage is lost. This also gives the opponent time to guard and/or heal before you can get the full effect off.

This is counterintuitive. Having to WS to gain the extra damage off an effect that has a large knockback is an odd choice and requires a movement ability that is also your shields and damage haste. This means to get the extra 12k damage, you need three different abilities and also reduce your resources for other combat.

The only time this is really effective is when you combo it with Meteodrive which luckily does have a large range.

In my opinion, Enlightenment should be a straight damage buff so it can be be used in tandem with Rising Phoenix and do the base 12k if Pressure Point ends without a WS.

To compare to other DPS, Enlightenment is a 20s cooldown. Samurai has a 20s cooldown that is 8k damage aoe that gives an 8k shield. Drg has a 15s cooldown that does 8k damage and gives 100% damage heal.

Enlightenment needs some adjustment to be a more intuitive ability.

I believe the intent they're giving Monk is that he MUST be that tick that never lets go. So even if he knocks you back, he needs to be there right along with your KB. Monk isn't allowed to disengage at any momment and if he screws up his Riddle of Earth heal, he dies just doing his job...

The point of Enlightenment is to isolate enemies for deletion, or to simply force opponents into poor positioning (like keeping them out of the Crystal during overtime, or on the final push into the endzone). With regards to the first use, Pressure Point seems fine. Yes, you want to have a TC to follow up the push, but you have 3 charges of it, and they recharge pretty quickly.

Also worth noting that Enlightenment is also an AoE, like Ogi. And it's damage does get buffed by Fire Resonance (from Rising Phoenix), so it's really a 12k AoE that was preceded on the oGCD by another 3k. It can represent *a lot* of damage.

Really, in terms of adjustment, my only complaint is that Enlightenment is wearing multiple hats, being their only on-demand AoE weaponskill and a vital part of their "cc kit". I wouldn't even hate the idea of Enlightenment turning into single target, but then MNK gaining Elixir Field as an AoE attack halfway through their Phantom Rush combo (right after Snap Punch).

Then they need to do something about Mnk with CC immunity. Right now there is so much CC and purify being shotty at best that more than half the time the effect of enlightenment simply doesn't go off making it a 30s knockback. No other dps has this much burden for such little effect. In practice it is clunky and obtuse. I have had matches where I use it, immediately follow up and it still doesn't work because snapshot decided in their favor. My point is the effect works against itself and is ultimately badly designed for what they're trying to do. I understand the concept but these two effects in the same ability work against each other which is not how an ability should be designed.
