Wouldn't be a suprise, cc is like one of the biggest boost pvp has had for a long time and is likely going to have higher gains if they can get it right than changes to rw and fl which most people have given up on
I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to keep the changes minimal so that the balance doesn't swing TOO much, although I would def like to see more changes to the top tiersPeople will hate to hear this, but I would have preferred leaning even harder on bringing some jobs down. Hope we don't end up increasing HP pools to 100k HP a few years from now because they didn't want to address some outliers putting out too much damage.
Don't get me wrong. Buffing BLM, DNC, RPR, and GNB are good calls.
I wanted more but i am pretty happy with the changes. Something is better than nothing.
They changed what they could on short notice.
There is no way they could have rebalanced nd made all the changes on this soon of a patch.
Things have to be tested that they dont break game.
I do wish they changed primal rend to 20-30 sec cooldown.
I dont understand how they buffed mch tho.
That's the thing. It really actually isn't. It's a boost but this happens every single time a new mode comes out. Every time. Rival Wings being the last. There's also the added benefit of Makai coming back. This probably being more a bigger factor than CC. There's all this artificial stuff that's making CC seem more popular than it really is. And more people playing FFXIV in general than in the older years. Don't let that fool you into thinking this mode is popular. Most people I talk to are just rage grinding atm for rewards and never want to touch it again.
I like the changes, I'm surprised they didn't touch dragoon also, wyrmwind thrust is definitely too strong at max range and a more visible indicator for the lb or a big jumping sound effect would make it much easier for a lot of people.
Crystal Conflict is the new shiny FotM content so of course by default it'll be perceived as a boost. It is definitely going to die out in another month once people have attained their rewards as it is not part of a daily "roulette" like Frontlines is.
The real boost in PvP popularity was the job reworks and the shiny LBs.
I'm happy with most things, actually. Even though I liked RDM, toning him down was good. WAR and WHM could've used more debuff (Adding Poly to Purify's list would be good but it's not like Purify works...) BLM and GNB buffs across the board is good, DNC getting buffs is nice... Surprised to see no SMN and DRG changes at all but I guess they do have clear weaknesses and it's good that I get to just keep playing them as is.
But I can't be happy in the patch where they made MCH lose his Wildfire activator on Bioblaster. Or the 4-stack Wildfire boost if you trigger the last hit with an isolated Scatter Gun. 2 skills I taught myself to actually make that bastard of a class work in FL turned out to be classified as a bug. That feels like being personally stabbed in the back for liking this class, especially because I really hate how Bioblaster is in the way of the Machinery rotation and I have to keep throwing myself into the Melee to get to my harass stuff. It's an infuriating patch for me.
The low tier jobs didn't get nearly enough. Mnk, Gnb and Dnc still won't have a serious impact. What they do compared to others in the same idea just isn't nearly enough. I am fine with "Buff not Nerf" so games don't end up lasting forever, but you need to bring those lower strength jobs up to match high tier jobs.
LB is not invisible. there is a huge blue circle where he's going to land.
The patch seems really, really conservative. DRG in particular got away with murder. My guess is that Square didn't want to do anything too invasive or involved, since the WHM bugfixes are likely to change high-level play pretty dramatically despite not being "balance adjustments" as such. (Nobody thinks Purgation's recharge time is actually fair, right?)
I expected WAR's control effects to get touched, so seeing them attack its survivability instead was kinda surprising. I don't know if it's healthy for a single job to have that much pushing power, regardless of how easy it is to kill—shout is a war crime—but at the same time, I'm happy that there are no "removed Primal Rend" type changes here.
Conveyance stuff will hopefully come later (and hopefully Junction/Bioblaster stuff too), but it's nice to know that the mode wasn't thrown into our laps and immediately abandoned, at least. Quietly predicting PLD's rise to glory.
