(Only example) Gladiator can technically be considered Tank and DPS(not a great DPS, but viable). So having two jobs, one specializing in each, creates more flexibility in one class. So lets say GLA gets access to Two-Handed swords. One day, the GLA is asked to go PLD since they need a tank. The next day, a tank is already present in the party and they need a DPS, you can switch to Dark Knight and pull your 2-handed sword out and perform as a DPS.

It is just a way to create flexibility within one class and I believe it is a great idea. The idea is commonly practiced in other MMO's and works very well. In WoW, a Paladin has three specs it can change to, Retribution(DPS), Protection(Tank), and Holy(Healing). This makes it so even though you are bound to that class, you have a lot of options to make yourself useful for multiple situations if you dual spec correctly.

While yes this game does have a job system and can switch on the go, I believe that people should specialize themselves in "one class" and make full use of everything it has to offer. Experienced in multiple classes? Neat. Does most people want to learn multiple classes and jobs and get gear for all of them? Not really.

Just my input.
I totally agree Vel. I think we could easily get multiple jobs from each class. The biggest thing I think they would need to add would be more job specific abilities that help to seperate the jobs even further from the classes. WHile I know that the current jobs we have are still in their infancy, I would love to see them double the amount of skills each job gets by the time your level 50. By doing so they would flesh out the differences between job and class even further, helping to ease some of the staleness some feel the system breeds now. Not to mention, each time they announced a new class soon to be released, it would be the same as confirming 2-3 new jobs as well :P

My only hope is that , when they finally DO give us our first new class, I hope they release the first job it has WITH it and not at a later date. I know its a stretch but, what can I say, I like to have my cake and eat it too
