Unless they are a tenant with housing permissions you can't interact with uh, interactables.

I thought if it was in a FC house then the entire FC sees them? (because they can interact with summoning bells or food plates so what would make this any different?)

But regardless, sorry I still stand by my original statement that I prefer them as they are, automatically opening.
