I actually do know(and have) Grani, the Lightless Beast of Banners. But you're right, a mount associated with Azem would be fairly interresting!

I can see one of those big Tonberries from Wanderer's Palace working for that. Just kinda ride around in its arms as it carries you, or, if big, just flop over its head.

Heya, all. I've just taken another trip to Ishgard, and discovered something that I missed before. Seemingly violent, aggressively-bearded creatures with strange, small heads bearing long, split masks and grim biting attacks. I speak, of course, of the Crocodiles. They do only resemble the beast they're named after tangentially, but given that they're said to be somewhat tamable, if Gavial is any indication, there may well be someone who'd have thought to put a saddle on his biggest, strongest gator. Perhaps the hunting crew at the Forgotten Knight could know the secret, or know who does...
Merlwyb flying body pillow .... sound great !
I would love to have the drake you found in Lakeland, love the fact that they look so different when they are walking compaired to when they are flying.

I'd like more mount color variants, like one of those rainbow Zu from Eureka or a biast with lightning breath as an alternative to the cavalry drake.
I'd also just like more big mounts in general, like the ARR hydra or a brachiosaur (Perhaps toned down to give it similar body mass to the cerberus or elephant).
would love to see the flight unit from nier (and the nier raids) and maybe the wings from the new treasure map instances (level 90) as mounts as for the walking/ground animation for these, they've already done it with the new nier pod and just make it so you "hover" when you're not flying

Those sound kinda good, and a Biast would be a nice mount to add for those Ishgard fans. I also wholeheartedly support the idea of a mountable Hydra.
And speaking of variants, I'll combine what Kage here said, as well as one of the earlier commenters' suggestion for additional Goobbue variants, and name three of those for mount duty:
1: the regular 'ice' Goobbues found south of Dragonhead.
2: A Yeti, like the ones found in West Coerthas(this also counts as an Eldthurs variant, I guess).
3: For some of that Amdapori flair, continue the streak of making friends with bosses and add the Decaying Gourmand to our roster.

I want a succubus mount that princess carries me places. To take a small bit of a break from the negativity going around the forums of late, and at the behest of a few guildmates of mine, I've decided to make this thread, wherein I share some thoughts on things that might be cool as mounts. I'll label some of the obvious ones, true, but I hope to get some of the ones you all may have missed the first time around. As of right now, though, do mind I'm in Heavensward, and I may well come to add additional creatures as I become aware of and study them.
With that out of the way, here goes.

Not a bad idea there, KurohNeko. Hell, maybe they can make it drop from either version of Haukke Manor and cast it as Lady Amandine or one of her maidservants.
