    Worst housing system in history

since ffxiv doesnt care about housing and all legit people will never have a chance to own a house . theres barely enough plots to support 1 out of every 10,000 players on top of that its a lottery meaning theres a chance even after a trillion tries you will never win because its not like your luck goes up after everytime you lose... you may never actually win and once all plots are taken wait another 6-7 years for a post saying "we apologize for the inconvenience we will be busy working on renaming emotes instead of improving housing thank you for your patience as we fix nothing".

Worst housing system in the world atleast in real life if you live in the most expensive city you can over bid and atleast get what you want after over paying here in ffxiv doesnt matter what the price is you could have multi billion gil but theres no gurantee you will literally ever win a single plot ever since its luck based.

cant wait for all the comments from entitled people already have a plot to bash on this post with responses featuring "oh i already have a plot so you shouldnt complain and pretend housing problem isnt a real problem " even though we all pay to get access to the same game yet housing isnt available for everyone. Even though its advertised as a part of the game .

2 people out of millions think a multi million dollar company should be able to deny people an in game feature even if everyone has to pay to get access to the game is laughable. Its undoubtedly the worst system in in game in history . How can a multi Billion dollar corporation NOT have enough money to allocate to upgrade to the best servers in order to allow more space for housing plots ?? 100 wards 200 plots ??

I've worked for one of those in the past, their latest earnings 72.3 billion USD p.a.

They only care about image and shareholders. The trick to keeping one's share prices high is to do the absolute bare minimum to grow customers while doing the utmost to maximise dividends.

Spending more on housing won't grow new licenses by any meaningful amount, and the few who unsubscribe for that reason is small.

Most will not unsubscribe.. the idea is fixing this to a large scale WILL basically allow this to be a brand new feature where everyone has access to housing and they can legit advertise as that being part of the game not a fake housing where 1 out of every 10,000 player can have a house. and doing better investment grows better profit due to more people actively playing and more new players joining. Housing is literally the only flaw i see in the game everything else they got spot on.

Completely agree with you. While the lottery gives a chance to more people that also means that there will be more bidders per house ultimately reducing everyone's chance who bids. More people get to engage with the preliminary part of the system, but the same number of people will own houses so not much changes other than the "impression" that getting a house is easier. It's less effort for sure, also less chance since more bidders. Add on the fact that the lottery window for bidding is so large, you can't even snipe a house or be up against a reasonably few amount of players. With a five day window for bidding, tons of time is given to everyone to casually check wards and bid. I'd personally lower the lottery to 3 days to bid, 2 to claim. Speed up house turnover for those that are vigilant on checking for a free lot. And lets not even get into making 75% of wards FC only now, so even in a large, medium, or small lot opens up in Golden Saucer ward 3, you can't even bid on it unless you're an FC. Empyrium should have increased the overall number of plots for personal housing and in the end all it did was effectively reduce them.

The real over all problem isn't the lottery though, that's just a band-aid on the over all system, like a magician trying to trick you by having you focus on one hand while doing the trick with the other. The real issue with housing has never been the acquisition of a house, it's the limited quantity of houses over all. If there were more houses available that could meet the demand pre lottery system, you wouldn't never have needed the lottery system. You wouldn't have people spam clicking boards for hours or using bots except on the most desirable plots. Because everyone could have a house. And all because YoshiP and co are married to the idea of wards and the "community feel" they offer even though most are dead and you rarely see anyone. And on the off chance you actually do see another player, you don't interact with them in the slightest lol. What really needs to happen at this point is instance housing needs to be implemented. Keep the wards for those that want the illusion of a community feel, and give the rest that don't care a place to build a house. Have a gil sink (something this game desperately needs to give gil as a currency meaning again) tied to upgrading your plots from small to medium to large. Heck, I'd even be in favor of the upgradable apartment to penthouse with outdoor areas available for gardening and decorating.

Part 2. Ran out of space (3000 character limit lol)
What's a real worry is a lot of people are banking on these island sanctuaries supposedly coming in 6.2 to scratch the itch of player housing. "Just wait and see" they say. Even YoshiP has stated not to get your hopes up about them in this regard. Now maybe when 6.2 drops, especially after seeing all the blowback from this housing fiasco, maybe YoshiP and co WILL make island sanctuaries player housing. Or they'll just make them a small garden plot ala the farm in Four Winds from WoW ("There's your gardening scrubs. Now quit complaining about player housing, I have Hrothgar ears to chop!"-YoshiP). As a newer player, Empyrium offered the hope of finally getting to partake in the housing of FF14, something I really wanted to indulge in, only to be left in disappointment realizing not only how bad the lotto system is, but the overall state of player housing as a whole. And the sad fact is, this has been going on for years unaddressed. It's actually quite shocking how a game as big as FF14 is could actually have content that is locked behind being lucky of all things. Not lucky, then this content you can't partake in, even though our in game events give you rewards for said content! Now even WoW has a such badly designed system, and they're pretty low on some of the garbage they put out these days. And when WoW can claim that kind of victory over FF14, that they aren't "that" bad in comparison, then the devs who work on FF14 should feel real shame. Not just because a potentially inferior game can claim this victory, but also because hundreds of thousands of players want to engage with this system and call a small part of Eorzea home and can't and the disappointment that causes.

    I'll take, 'they don't care.'

This is where Yoshi P and staff are out of touch with their consumer base. They have made the game easier and better for casuals, great! However, this is a feature everyone has been asking for a fix.

When everyone asked about our instanced island Yoshi P told us to lower our expectations. This tells us he is aware of what we want, but refusing to go down that route. Plus people would pay real money for instanced themed land. The thing they need to be working out right now is housing.
