    PvP is what healing should be - unique

    We all hate the overloaded homogenized healing abilities of PvE. The thoughtless one button spam of functionally identical damage spells. The useless feeling when you do 1/2 the DPS while a tank solo heals themselves through an encounter.

    This would all be bad enough if the dev team was just incompetent with healers as a whole, BUT THEY AREN'T! Amazingly, they have tipped their hand by releasing these amazing PvP iterations that play, look and feel completely different. I don't wanna focus on their power level, as balance is an issue, but instead on just how awesome each is.

    AST - Actually feels cosmic!

    * Unique Mechanic - Doublecast
    Yeah this is basically an upgrade to the classic RDM skill, but who cares. Making an on the fly decision about which upgraded spell to use when feels slick as hell.

    * Cards simplified and useful
    Three cards, all useful, no more stupid Yugioh nonsense. I manipulate time, stars and fate, not the heart of the cards.

    * Sick Ult
    Celestial River needs to come to PvE. It is just and awesome animation.

    SCH - Debuff Mage!

    * Did you miss old old SMN?
    Hey, let's spread DoTs that not only do damage but influence how much damage the enemy can do!

    * What Healing?
    Enemy WHM got you down? PLD to tanky? No fear Mumify them with this sick new spell and laugh!

    * More powerful the more enemies
    Usually I see a giant crowd in Frontlines and fear for my life. When I see one as a SCH, all I see is +2 x 20. Let's go Deployment Tactics!

    WHM - I hurt you, alot

    * One skill really sells WHM, Afflatus Purgation
    Dear devs, want to make me feels cool? Letting me FIRE MA LAZER and then leave me with Temperence wings is a pretty cool way.

    * Seraph Strike
    Oh? A way to use Cure 3 that doesn't feel like an after thought? Really solidifies the idea of "I am the scary healer ready to jump in and pound you with burst" (Assuming you have a Misery charge.

    SGE - I DPS. No healing, just DPS.

    * Kardia and nothing else
    A healer with only one incredibly weak on demand heal? What a novel concept. Yes I know Pnuema but that is a shield.

    * Assassin Mage
    So if I don't actual heal what do I do? Assassinate low health targets like a Ninja. Pnuema for the shield, Icarus and then Phlegma some fools from 20% while you facetank with shields. Not exactly the PvE sage.

    * Mesotes
    HAHA you can't touch me! Unless you want a massive DoT. And to be in Phlegma range. Probably not wise. Heaven forbid my MCH or RDM is in here with me. Death Cage.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    All jokes aside, these healers are unique. They lean into a role where they actually matter to a team, greatly impact the outcome and most importantly, are just fun. The gloves came off and the dev team showed us the truth. They CAN make fun and engaging healers. Now get the PvP crew to do the same work on PvE instead of the braindead homogenized monkey nonsense we have right now.

    They're also hardly healers.

    They're very fun in a way. I won't say I haven't been enjoying them in pvp, and I understand SE"s decision to go this direction. ...Buuut I'm also hoping that some day a quality MMO will come along again, one where healers can actually focus on their namesake - in pve as much as pvp.

    Obviously the OP isn't saying they should be transferred completely unchanged without additional healing tools (although those tools in current PvE could be easily and drastically consolidated).

    As for for high-octane healing action, this game will never be that and the sooner everyone accepts that the better. The damage spikes will always be sparse, they won't go back to rescript a decade worth of encounters or change the fundamental design between expansions. The only way to make them interesting is to accept what everyone already knows, which is that in 14 every job is a DPS.

    A huge part of the draw of PvP is the break away from the heavily scripted without deviation combat of the rest of the game. Every bit of outgoing damage in the PvE part of XIV is scheduled exactly, there is no variation so once you learn a fight there is nothing to prepare for or react to, it's just running the same dance over and over agian.

    I don't even need it to be high octane, I just need it to not be all about the DPS.

    Nonetheless, I do accept that it is what it is. That's why I'm hoping some day a competitor will come along with better healing. I also accept that new MMOs are few and far between and even when they come along, they aren't likely to do much with healing as a role and aren't likely to come anywhere close to FF14 in overall quality either. But one can dream...
