Is there a particular reason why we can't have ingredients inventory?

I'd argue all the different currencies needed for relics and all the gear drops that would be used for glam, if you've played this game for a while you'll have issues with glam taking a lot of space even with the glamour dresser being there and all.

Fair enough, I've been playing the game since HW but I've always just kinda threw things out I wasn't using that I could get again. Like Alexander savage parts or the like. Relics I kinda forgot about due to skipping the Bozja one (currently on the final part of it but good got motivation is just not there)

The ultimate answer is "because they made an inefficient inventory system a decade ago and it's too entrenched to change it now".

They've said in the past that creating specialised inventory spots (like the crafting inventory you're suggesting or the often-requested tackle box for fishers) requires them to dedicate space that could otherwise be used as general inventory.

I wish gathered material were actually treated as currency with a dedicated menu and tab.

That would be nice, i think it's a good idea. Wanna make a deal? I push for an inventory tab for ingredients, and crafters start pushing for totems and books to be added to the currency tab.

I understand how crafting can take up a ton of space but I don't see how combat takes up just as much. I don't run savage content but I imagine u got your food, totems/books, and tinctures for w/e is current. Is there more beyond that? Genuinely curious.

I got a few totems, books, glamour prisms, food, pots, my three most used dyes, ShB relic memories and a few unsung armor of asphodelos stuff so I can exchange for glamour to some of my jobs.

Fair enough, im kinda minimalist when it comes to my own inventory. Basically the logic of if I cleared the content once I can clear it again sooo if I want a thing I'll run it then. Relics I understand just forgot about that one lol

I think you could argue that casual players are punished more severely than dedicated raiders here, especially late in an expansion when in order to gear up as a casual player you're going to need coins from the alliance raids, totems from extremes, and a bunch of armor pieces from normal raids.

Savage raiders just need their books from the current tier.
