Second weapon glamour!

I just thought of something that I think would be a great way to breathe fresh air into the glam game. Allow players to glam a second weapon in their glamour plates.

Not only would this help players create truly unique glamours, it would also be a way of showing what different types of gameplay they prefer. Imagine a WHM with a great sword on their back. Or a monk with a gun or a gunbreaker with a pair of knives.

What do you think would be a cool combo?

That will never happen I'm afraid - barring a few very rare exceptions like Edda's scythe on the Mogstation, weapon type is the specific identifier for your Job Class, and furthermore, is your Job, as that is what the Armoury System is all about. Yoshi himself has basically stated this in the past about why the glamour system is restricted and not wanting to violate Job identity like what you are proposing is his reason (he specifically does not want a WHM looking like a DRK for instance). And I agree with him I'm sorry to say.

So I have to say a big no to this.

I feel like job identity went out the window when they started coming out with level 1 glams that don’t really correlate with any specific job.

I think those lvl 1 glams is there because of people wanting to break free from the job identity locked glams.

I don't really like this idea too much. I wouldn't mind hidden weapon glamours on certain classes, but I wouldn't want a white mage to use a greatsword or something like that. Just need some better weapon glamours in general. I don't really see how it would be feasible anyway, with how many things are animated.

there is no job identity.
SE has been pruning healer identity aand skills ever since the dreaded shadowbringers expanssion hit, Tanks can just glam cloth aand look like a mage and robes while healers and mages are baarley allowed to wear armor at all for some reason. i mean for heaven sake a warrior can litterally dress as a chicken swinging around a hammer (which by final fantasy identity standards would be a paladin or a white mage weapon). Identity is not nessecarily even a thing in this game -- and besides, you can tell any class at a glance b y simply looking at their on-hand weapon .
it truely would be nice if there was not a class restriction to glam in this game

Edit: also, with the feast reward gear any player can make their WHM look like a DRK anyways -- and thats not even mentioning the other non pvp gear that may do the same

Maybe we should try and get unrestricted Glamour first, before we start asking for cross-class weapon glams (which Yoshida has cited as a reason against the former to begin with...)?

As much as I would enjoy being a Paladin, that like any normal person wearing a full set of plate armor, would wield a greatsword/longsword(the real kind of longsword, not the toy ones PLDs have), warhammers, great-axe or polearms instead of a redundant shield, they kinda designed the classes to be defined by their weapons in many ways.
