yes i agree with you. i didnt have a problem either i dealt with it also. but i would like to not seee it with this game so you couild focus on making the summons stronger rather than just keeping them out thats all im really saying.¬____¬
Preeeeetty sure summoning it does cost MP (Hence perpetual cost). There are gears out there in FFXI where it reduces the perpetual cost to the point where you can keep some avatar up in definitely... if you're lucky enough to obtain them.
Really. I played SMN quite a bit and I didn't find the perpetual cost to be an issue at all.
At this point it is far too early to even comment about how summoner should or would work in this game. At the way things are looking it's really anybody's guess given that summoning primals like Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, and so on will be obviously very different to how it's done typically.
Nuking on BLMs will drain your MP surprisingly faster than you'd think. Even BLM have to worry MP management, just as much as summoners do, cause if they run out of MP... Well damn they're useless as they would be resting, just like the summoners do.ok. 1st off when leveling in a pt if a smn out of mp their dmg/healing/buffing out put is COMPLETELY gone. They cant do anything else. Unlike Blm which would have the same problem unless the Tank really stunk and need to back up heal the BLM is ONLY casting Black Magic. Unlike the Blm Smn is heal and or doing summons so they lose MP fast than Blm hence why they got the Biggest mp pool. And yes i stated the cost to summon the Avatar out like evry other FF out there with summoners in it. and to use there spells. there is your cost so Summoner is not broken or limited. Balance. FAIR
Perpetual cost was never a problem in FFXI. There are plenty of MP management tools out there. You got Bard's ballads. You got Red Mage's refresh. You got several form of drinks that gives refresh as well. summoners obviously have to work on finding a way to deal with perpetual cost so they could do their jobs efficiently. So really, in this sense, summoner was never broken or unfairly limited.
yes they were pre 75. when lvling a majority of the time they were ONLY healing unless there was a PL.
Not all the time. When I leveled summoners in FFXI, I used it as how the job was made to be done. Using avatars to fight, and occasionally help heal if the situation calls for it. Oh, and just to make sure, by situation calling for it, I do mean when wHM is low on MP or dead, and there's no other way to heal, or whm can't keep up with healing. You know. Emergency situation.
However, I won't deny that summoners have been used as a ghetto healing job especially when people couldn't find WHM. However in post level 75 situation? They're used for summoning Waaaaay more than used for healing. No Post 75 end game situation group in their right mind would use summoner as ghetto healing when they have extremely limited capabilities. Sure, there's buffs. Sure some avatars can heal, but it's faaaar more efficient to actually recruit a WHM or use a RDM for healing than summoner. Hell using a dancer for healing would be more efficient.
Obviously you never played FF10. and no shit you wouldn't be able to summon them if you didnt have the MP.
FYI, summoning your aeon in FFX dismisses your entire party leaving only the said aeon there to fight. Preeeetty sure that's the cost there.

Really now?Obviously you never played FF10. and no shit you wouldn't be able to summon them if you didnt have the MP. i didnt even say that at all, im saying if you ran out of mp the Avatar can ONLY auto attack. Cause if the Pet goes away like in11 your damage is gone. Why bother having sumoner when you could just throw in a blm or another DD that isnt limited no dmg when they run outta mp.

Pretty sure I've played FFX as well as International, and i'm pretty sure I was referring to removal of party members while it's present as what was the cost for FFX's summoner, since in other games the party didn't get removed, but their sprites/models were just gone.This wasn't due to perp cost. Community shoehorning ≠ Disliking not having avatars out eternally. Look back to every FF game with summoning, there was always some kind of cost for using them, either large MP costs, dealing with a random effect or removing your entire party out of battle while it's there, there's always a cost.
Summoner would fail in this game if it had a perpetual cost.
What are all you melees complaining about... staying near a boss that spams aoes. If Avatars had a perpetual cost + the solid cost to summon the avatar alone they would be out of mana in no time flat. So what happens when an avatar goes near the boss that spams aoes they'll go down fast too. Oh look now the summoner is useless cause they have a perpetual cost and drained their mp.
It should cost MP from the summoner only to summon the avatar, and any spells it uses, not abilities. Abilities should require tp use. With spirit dart attack on summon to build tp safely.
ok i apologize i read it wrong. I am just saying in this game Perpetual cause would be a bigger Handicap than i was in 11. Cause of all the heave aoe mobs that are in the game. I was only say that the cost of summoning the avatars can be huge like it is in every single other FF and it should cost moderate mp to use the Avatars spells Tp moves should come from the Avatars tp. Hell i will say the 15 for smn should be the astral flow and still sap all the smns mp. But like i said the the avatar should be able to stay out even with 0 mp sure once he dies you cant resummon till you get the mp and all it can do is only auto attack. And yes i know that its not in the game yet but look at Paladin. And when jobs were coming out ppl were saying wait till it comes out. it did come out and it was terrible and not till 1.22b will we know if pld will even be a viable tank. i am just assuming worst case scenario. cause to be honest i am a pessimist id rather prepare for the worst than hope for the best.Really now?
