    DPS/Healers pulling in dungeons

As someone who likes tanking dungeons I've noticed a trend, at least on Materia, of DPS and Healers deciding to pull.

This can be in the form of using a ranged attack on an enemy I haven't reached yet (waiting to get into melee range for an AoE). Or if I pause for 3 seconds after a boss to take a drink of water, by the time I put the bottle back down the DPS has run off

I am not talking about the case where the tank only pulls one or two packs and the healer is encouraging to pull more by bringing a few friends. This isn't a small packs vs wall to wall issue.

I don't remember really ever seeing this on NA/JP DCs but maybe that's changed too?
Is this something players on other DCs are seeing?

Idk it's always been like that for me (I came back during ShB). Just pop sprint zoom and go, it's not a big deal

I mean, yeah, rushing ahead when you are pulling mobs in a wall to wall pull is a pain and sucks, but really, it's a single AOE or two from the tank to get aggro back again. If they die by the time you get to them, well, that's on them (assuming you made an attempt to get aggro off them, that is, you beat the boss, you pause for like half a min or even like 10-20 secs to do something and they facepull before you get back, leading to them dying before you get aggro back again. A YPYT situation is unacceptable and you're griefing at that point tho).

If this was back in Stromblood and pre-Stormblood days where aggro management was a much bigger issue (what with two tank stances, TP hindering maximum spamming/uptime of AOE depending on damage output, abilities generating a lot more threat and aggro) it would be an issue, but it is, as I mentioned, just an AOE or two away from getting full threat back with tank stance on. Hell, even your tank ranged ability will get pack aggro back in like a hit or two (since the ability itself has increased enmity generation). To be fair, I have rarely seen it (I'm on Zurvan), but when it does happen honestly the simplest and most straightforward thing is to just bite the bullet and deal with it. It's a dungeon with like a 20min average time, and you probably won;t see them after that. Backlist them I guess if they really piss you off (by not stopping when you ask kindly), though I do think that would be a bit of an overreaction to a minor inconvenience.

It's always been there on NA servers. Likely EU too.

D'aw. I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who likes the original a lot more than the Disturbed version. They're different in feel and the original feels a bit chilling to me.

You're not 100% alone; my aunt shares that opinion. (I like both versions, but I admit to a slight preference for the Disturbed one.)

    Aaaanyway, back on topic.

I will often rip aggro off of tanks unintentionally as a healer, especially if they're in lower-ilevel gear than me. We're running along, they pull, I DoT everything they've pulled, I discover they only AoE'd a given mob once and as we run through a second pack and that DoT keeps ticking, eventually my DoT makes the mob decide I'm their new friend.

This is not really a problem, because as the pull ends, I will come sit on top of the tank (because I'm also gonna AoE that pack, and most healer AoE damage attacks are centered on the healer). If the tank is AoE'ing, within 1 or 2 AoEs, my new friend will decide the tank is a much more interesting chew toy than me.

I tend to think DPS (or healers) pulling early falls in that category; half the time it's a mistake or they thought I was moving faster than I was, and generally it won't matter because my AoE's gonna grab the mob off them anyway... assuming they'll bring their friend to me as the tank, anyway.

(If they do not bring their new friend to the tank -- or at the very least within Provoke or ranged attack distance -- then I grant there is a certain point where if you take a mob off to Narnia while I'm tanking, I'm going to assume you probably want to have a private magical adventure of your own with it, with fauns and Turkish delight. I don't believe in "you pull it, you tank it", but if you pull it to Siberia, there's only so far I'm willing to commute to get the aggro back; the Scions don't let me expense the travel costs.)

The only time I think it becomes a problem is if the tank expressly is not comfortable with big pulls, and people are still pulling the mobs to force them out of their comfort zone. Tanxiety is a thing, and my goal as a player is not to make someone else's life miserable.

I will absolutely encourage an uncertain tank to try big pulls even if they don't think they can -- especially if I'm the healer, where I'll be like, "If you get vaporized, at least you tried, and it'll be partly my fault if I let you hit the floor. No one's going to be mad, and you might find you can handle more than you expect and have fun with it." And more often than not, in my experience, people who are single-pulling because they're feeling nervous are willing to give big pulls a shot once they know folks aren't going to be upset at them if the pull goes sideways.

But if they aren't comfortable with it, then yeah, an impatient DPS or healer running ahead to grab mobs without actually saying anything isn't going to encourage most anxious tanks to do big pulls. It's just going to make them resentful.

But in any other scenario...? I mean, if I'm tanking and someone grabs a mob before I'm there, I'm gonna just shrug and AoE it off them, because I was probably about to go grab it anyway; at that point, all the other player did was go fetch trash mob take-out and bring it back to me. (Remember to leave a review on DoorDash?)
