After the last few months we've seen a lot of changes in crafting speed etc.
Does anyone know any places to get UPDATED crafting guides?
Nearly all the ones I've found are outdated.

You dont really need a crafting guide, theres plenty of websites with recipes just work it out yourself by trying diff ones, or do leves.
www.mozk-tabetai.com
They update fast after every patch, and they have a great interface (I've heard it works great on iPads too).
Thats a good one, I perfer http://www.ffxiv-db.com/ myself.

I use http://www.mooglebox.com
There's..really no need for a guide. Check out the sites and see what recipes are near your level. The way the system changed in the past year+ negates the need for a guide really, unless you mean where to get materials.
Surely there's a more efficient way of doing it though?
No point spending gil + items on crafting items when you can get the same/more exp with less items?
I've been out of the game, crafting wise for a long time. I just assumed it would be similar.
Nah, given the less reliant on 'trickle down/scale up' when compared to the initial release the only truly efficient way of doing a craft is leveling DoL then level DoH in order of what you plan to level, for example if you're a goldsmith, it benefits from leatherworker and blacksmith, so you'd level all 3 if you wanted ontop of Miner mainly, otherwise spend gil to make gil.
The way crafting seems to be now is quality has a higher effect on your exp return for an item if it's 2-5 levels above you, so if you're looking at it more for the skill up then profit route, there's no real "efficient" way other than getting as high as possible quality on your synth. If you're looking at it for making a profit as you go, http://www.mozk-tabetai.com/ this site along with seeing what sells well (if it's under your craft) and if its around your level would probably be as efficient as you can get. Crafting changed quite a bit over the year.
