    Why not?

Any system that allows you to climb while losing can't track player skill, and won't be able to organize fair matches. If you want a bar that always goes up and never goes down, you have PvP Rank and the Malmstone system, but ranking needs to take losses into account to function.
By this logic you should not be allowed to clear Savage content if you wipe a lot. Or hell, we could take that logic and apply it to pretty much anything in this game. If you fail too much? You can't progress, sorry. Died too many times to Endsinger? Back to ARR!

But for some bizarre reason you only think this way for Ranked PvP. Almost like it's completley arbitrary and not based on actual logic.

Fair question and this isnt a jab actual fair question. Have you played an online pvp ladder based game? DotA, Starcraft, League of Legends, Overwatch, Counterstrike etc. Speaking as someone who was mediocre at league I would spend 8 months playing 8-10 games a day going up and down...inside silver alone. 8....Months.....Inside ONE division. XIV is VERY forgiving with this design. You have to understand from the perspective of people who do other pvp games we are actually confused by what you are asking for because how it is the norm if not "babys first ladder"

    edit, missed one word

Let's put it this way. If you are losing more than you win at Gold, why do you deserve to be in Platinum, where you will lose even more? You're just stomping your feet because you can't get in with a pretty please and ruin the matchmaking for people who deserve to be there.

As for your take on Savage, part of the experience is making mistakes and learning from them to clear the fight. Failing too much can already lock you out of progress as long as you're failing to learn from your mistakes. It works the same way as ranked PvP. If you consistently fail to learn from your mistakes, your rank will drop. Either way, ranked isn't for you. Good thing there's a casual queue.

Here's a tip for people who want to climb easily. Wait a month. The system is inflationary (it hands out more stars than it takes away) so everyone will climb up the ranks eventually. Once that happens, Gold will be like bronze and Diamond will be like Silver, so it will be easier to win. Enjoy your free Crystal ranks.

For people who want rank to mean something, sorry. It only matters for the first few weeks.

Currently the system serves no one well. It makes casual non-PvP players think they deserve to climb like it's a mount they can farm for, but ultimately just frustrates them because losing is part of the process. For competitive PvP players, it's only legit for a short while at the start of each season (debatably).

I hope the matchmaking doesn't go to shit half way into the season, but that's a possibility too. Matches have seemed reasonably close (with exceptions of course) above Gold, but as more people climb up, it might get more and more variable in the upper ranks.

The game is more enjoyable when your teammates and opponents are similar in skill to yourself, and the only means of accurately assessing skill is measuring your average ability to win.

If you're winning more than you're losing, the game should try to place you into games with stronger players. If you're losing more than you're winning, the game should try to place you into games with weaker players. This benefits everyone who plays the game by lowering teammate variance and giving individual players more control over their games.

I have no clue what you're trying to accomplish with your PvE comparison.

This ruins it for you, but it’s actually the reason I and others enjoy it so much. There’s no satisfaction to be had here, usually people who are very pvp centric take the thrill of the battle to be the takeaway, I just like squaring off against others, no other rhyme or reason is required, if I get extra shit and happen to climb that’s just icing on the cake, without expectation, rhyme or reason.

This doesn’t sound like you, it sounds like you want the shinies and are owed the shinies, as someone else said here above me, I’d advise you step away from this and stay away, this is an optional system your probably better off not participating in for your own health.
In the end it’s your own choice you can climb with any job, is it rougher yes, but you don’t enjoy it.
This ^. Enjoyment is the key. I have a rough time climbing too but I enjoy the battle. I won't play a meta job that I hate playing, just because its meta, I play better on jobs I love and more importantly, I have fun.

If for even a short time, I become miserable or begin not having fun, I will immediately go do something else. Games are not worth ruining life over. Please people, if you don't enjoy the content, don't do it.

Not everyone wins/loses the same amount Someone might get higher rating in 1 hour compared to someone who would play 7 hours

Very true. I am not a competitive person and I like the rewards pvp gives but avoided Feast because I did not enjoy it and I was very discouraged about the cheating/win trading.

It is super nice to for once, have pvp content that I enjoy, that also gives rewards that I enjoy.

Everyone should keep in mind that they will adjust and nerf/buff jobs over and over so enjoy it now but anticipate changes on the way. If you played pvp in this game before Crystalline Conflict came out, you would be familiar with the returning adjustments to jobs. Check past patch notes for pvp changes and you can see how they are always changing things.

The majority of the rewards system aside from top 100 and ranking is set up to be possible to obtain at a later time for more casual or time sensitive players.

What you are experiencing is salt, Yukiko. It's bent up anger after you lose a number of competitive PvP games consecutively. It happens to all of us. Heck, it happened to me this morning. Unless you have godlike patience akin to Daigo Umehara, you are bound to get salty every now and then. Especially, after tough losses in Ranked play sessions.

I've had my share of salty moments when playing fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, and Guilty Gear. Though the reward for playing these types of games is nowhere near FFXIV's current PvP system. Not to mention the losses sting even more because your lost is on your hands and not on a "team". The only thing driving me and other fighting game players to keep playing is the will to get better. Though I shamefully admit that I once broke my closet door after having a eight game losing streak in Tekken 7. Was playing ranked matches too at the time.

Whenever you get salty, take a break from the game. A fifteen minute rest should do the trick. If you want to continue playing FFXIV PvP after your break, play casual since it won't effect your ranking.

Edit: I also recall tearing through the wall in my house after a bad play session in Street Fighter IV. One kick was enough to create a hole the size of a baseball.

It's been fun watching PvP from the outside, haven't set foot in it since they tried this same thing with Rival Wings and lo and behold it's shaping out to be the exact same scenario. It's like being a car wreck and then watching your best friend go through the exact same car wreck.
