Lazy Crafted Weapons & Lazy Garo Gear

If you're going to release a batch of old weapons that have particle effects during the course of a NEW expansion, then they should automatically add them for new jobs. I am tired of this laziness from the developers. It started with Gunbreaker, and Dancer. Now It's happening to Sage and Reaper. This is not fair. I don't want to have to wait until the end of an expansions when they have relic gear in order to have an awesome weapon. This is very likely to spoil my experience for future jobs, because after this cycle of the same thing happening again, I just can't take it anymore. Why play a new job if all the glamours will be inaccessible, and the weapon variety will be low.

As for the Garo event, Gunbreaker should have had its own tank glamour, but instead its reskin of the dps, and healer glams. That's so bad, and so lazily inconsistent. I'm getting sick of stuff like this happening in this game. The quality of XIV has severely gone down.

When there is a new job, weapons are not usually made for them except from the level they start at and some of them after that are avoided such as the relic weapons. Because the level 80 extremes came out after gunbreaker and dancer released, there are level 80 crafted extreme weapons for them.

GARO is an old event that was designed for the jobs that existed when it came out and it wasn't regularly updated with the new jobs, so we are lucky for any updates now. I don't know if there are any other GARO characters to inspire gear for the new jobs, so reskins might have been the only option.

It would be nice to have glowing weapons sooner for new jobs, but the selection is always limited to begin with and I don't expect the developers to go back through 90 levels worth of dungeon, extreme, savage, crafted and tomestone weapons and make versions of them for the new jobs. That would be well over 100 weapons for each of them.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.

In the old days they always added the previous expansions crafted weapons for every single new job, that way everyone could enjoy the particle effects. They don't do that anymore, and its disgusting. Samurai and Red Mage were the last DLC jobs to get the same level of crafted weapons across the board. I don't think there is any excuse for it. It's lame, and creates job glamour disparity, when there should be the same amount of crafted weapons for EVERYONE. Heck, its so bad that even the blue spirit clone that is dyable is even unavailable for Sage & Reaper. THE SAME EXACT DYABLE VERSION OF THE WEAPON. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if they cut our last hope of glowing weapons via POTD, and Heaven on High. At a certain point leveling won't matter for those older jobs at those stages, and I can just see them getting cut. Keep tolerating this as a fanbase, and it will get worse. Much much worse.

SAM and RDM set a bit of a precedent that they haven't followed since. People are rightfully salty about that.

Creating old trial weapons for new classes would take away time they could be spending on making new earless Hrothgar hairstyles.

Oh, there's tons of stuff they could have added. Gunbreaker and Reaper could have had their own Makai Knight Armor sets.

The question is whether the Team wasn't in the mood to develop more, or if Yoshida simply couldn't broker a new deal, and getting the old deal renewed is the most he was able to do.

Have to remember that Garo isn't SE's property.
So perhaps they didn't get the green light to add more stuff than what's been done already during the first time from the creators.
So they only got what they already had and just made sure that post jobs could at least wear something from it.

Those look good. It's possible they just didn't want to bother putting that much effort into an old event, but they did just barely secure the deal right before 6.1 and they have to book new models in almost a year ahead of time.

Also depends on when they started negotiations for the license, and when they were given the go ahead to start/how long it would be allowed to return for. While I am definitely disappointed with the fact the "new" gear is just the same stuff given to a different job, and there are no weapons, at least it came back for those who missed it initially.

While, yes, it would be nice.. it's just not a really worthwhile investment overall of resources.

How long does it take to design and create a single weapon model and skin? Are we talking a day each? 40 man-hours? What about an entire armor set? How many different staff does a single item go through? We've got 3d model, skin, icon, flavor text in various languages, lighting/QA checks...

In the case of GARO, I agree something would have been nice, but I do understand that there might not have been much open development time between when the GARO people said "Yeah you can bring it back" and it being live.

    Regarding older trials, etc, consider:

    1) How many skins would need to be made for the various trials and content.
    2) Are a sizeable group of people actually running this content regularly?
    3) Is there a need to encourage people to run the old content (eg MSQ progression)?
    4) "End-Game" skins serve two purposes: Glamours and end-of-expansion progression; the new jobs have no progression need for older expansion cap gear.

    So, it comes down to:
    A) If they made more skins, what would be the point beyond glamour?
    B) If it is only glamour (which is a good reason in itself), how many play-hours would an average player use to obtain them?
    C) Is that amount of playtime used by an average player worth the cost to development the item/skin? Is it profitable?

    --
Personally. I think it would be worthwhile to add PotD/HoH and Eureka/Bozja at least. If possible, maybe prior expansion trial bosses (so, the Werlyt series from 5.0)
