My wife and I both play FFXIV. We have 2 PCs for that, but due to lack of space, one of them is connected to the living room TV, which means whoever plays on that machine is seated quite far from the screen.

While this isn't a problem for the characters and monsters displayed on screen, it's a bit of a problem for the UI text. As it stands, the only font size we can adjust is the chat log text size, leaving everything else super-tiny and hard to read at that distance.

To counter this, I had to set the desktop resolution to 720p, despite having a 1080p TV, just so the things on the screen appear bigger. While this DOES make it a lot more comfortable (as far as readability is concerned), I lose a lot of detail in the image.

A good compromise for now, I'd say, but I'm worried about how Version 2.0's engine will deal with screen resolution and font size.

For the sake of comparison (and part of the reason why I worry), take Diablo III. That game scales everything to your screen's resolution, meaning that something that measures an inch on screen in 1080p will measure an inch on screen in 720p (although with less detail). In my case, that means tiny fonts stay tiny no matter which resolution I set, and there's no way to make them bigger. That means I'm screwed, since I can't easily sit any closer to the monitor.

• Will we be able to change the font size for UI elements other than the chat log in Version 2.0?
• Will the size of other elements such as icons and bars be resizable as well?
• Are there other accessibility features in 2.0 that could help me see things better from a greater seating distance?
Ideally, It'd be nice if we could customize the presentation size of UI elements, or at the very least, it'd be nice if my old "butcher the resolution to make things bigger" trick could continue to work.
