6.1 Sam Change has just ruined the flow of the job

I don't think i've used a forum in like 10 years, but i've just signed up to be able to post here because I feel the change to Samurai with 6.1 is horrendous and completely pointless and i'm honestly hoping SE revert it back to what it was, because it's completely ruined my love for the job.

I absolutely loved Sam, I just loved the feel of the job. It just flowed so well, so smoothly and that was the real beauty of it. it was an absolute pleasure to play.

I see people saying Kaiten was a pointless button press, but honestly, i feel you could say that about so many skills on so many jobs.
My fave thing with jobs in FFXIV is being able to weave...just pressing something between the GCD skills, otherwise the job feels so slow, boring and actually pretty painful to play (*cough* PLD *cough*)

Kaiten did look damn cool there is no denying that....but it's not like i sit there watching my character mid fight, kaiten made the job flow. I feel like i'm now left with this awkward pause before using midare (and the DOT)....and its not like it was something you hit once every 60 secs, it was used ALOT!
Honestly it's hard to explain to someone who doesnt play the job alot.
Kaiten was used far too often in the sam rotation to just remove it. It doesn't matter if it was just a buff, it was an incredibly important part of the samurai rotation in the sense of how the job flowed and felt to actually play.

Samurai wasn't hard to play, it most certainly did not need to be dumbed down. I don't feel there was too much going on with the job either (mnk and ninja on the other hand!)

Why mess with something that works so well....honestly, had people been complaining about samurai pre-6.1 in order for this change to have happened? (i don't really follow online discussions so i'm totally out of the loop)
I just don't understand the random change, it's completely ruined my love for the job, i don't want to just suck it up and get used to a lackluster hollow feeling job or pick another (i've tried all jobs, and sam and drk are what i sync with)....i'm honestly so sad about this change that it's actually just killing my love for FFXIV in general now.

Please put Kaiten back, please stop dumbing down jobs and please stop messing with things that no one is complaining about (i'm assuming no one had complained about kaiten pre-6.1, absolute madness if they had!) Instead, please invest the time into making us more glams ;D

Your voice has been added to the " Compiled Sam Threads against 6.1 changes ".

Believe you me, many do not like the 6.1 changes. And like you, I and many others only recently joined the forums to voice our concerns and feedback against these ridiculous changes. I also never heard any complaints about Samurai ever. The most major complaint about Samurai I heard? was that the skill names were confusing... and that people could not remember them, that's it. Nothing to warrant any of these negative changes from 6.1 it genuinely kills the desire to play.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, it means a lot to see so many who love playing SAM for the same reasons... and bitter sweet that we all also are frustrated and disheartened for the same reasons to what they did to our beloved job.

I thought Samurai was pretty much the best designed class in the game. It had a better flow than any other. They added a few abilities that could have been combined, if bloat was such an issue, but it never felt hectic like some (ninja...)

A friend who liked Samurai best is feeling the same as you described - he hasn't played in days, and he said he's beginning to look at overall class design more negatively - a fear of where they're headed with this kind of change. I know it seems like dumbing down, but Samurai wasn't a class I considered confusing to begin with, so it almost feels more like some kind of laziness on the designer's part. Maybe it's easier to balance with Kaiten gone? I don't understand what they're trying to fix here. If they consolidated the RDM melee, it wouldn't change gameplay (and my fingers would be grateful) - but this does nothing except make the class feel gutted, flat and empty.

(I'm also really happy to see how many of us made forum accts & posted because of this. I loathe gaming forums - I avoid them like the plague they usually are, but this seemed worth the effort)

haha yes! That's the one thing I find - confusing names, I couldn't even remember the name of the DOT when writing my original post XD I just know the job by the skills positions on my hotbars :3 Thank you for adding my post to the Compiled sam thread, and I hope for all of us they reverse the change on Kaiten. Fingers crossed

I used to play SMN main since the beginning of the game up until SB. Then they made the changes for ShB......I was kinda devastated, but I stuck with it and then they made the second round of changes on SMN shortly after and I just gave up with it. They'd ruined a job I absolutely loved for years and i'm still butthurt over it up to this day haha. This is actually the reason I started playing SAM, I tried the job out whilst looking for a new one in Shb and I just clicked with it.

You're right, SAM wasn't a confusing job, so i can't fathom why they would take something that just seemed so perfect and mess with it. I hadn't given it any thought but maybe it's like you said, easier on SE, because unless it benefits them, there's no reason for them to have touched SAM. I also hadn't touched the game in days either after logging in and finding SAM had changed mid running the new 24 man raid. (and feeling totally weirded out)
I hadn't read anything about upcoming changes, its usually just potency changes anyways, and i was playing DRK for the MSQ. I ranted and ranted that day to friends and hadn't logged in until today just to do the easter event. Bad feelings of SAM came back so i went searching online for other people's reactions and felt i wanted to also add my voice to the list of complaints in the tiny hope SE will change SAM back.

I actually picked up SMN in EW, just to level it from 80-90, after not touching it for the pretty much the whole of ShB and what on earth have they done to that job? Could it be any more braindead and empty :/
I fear updates and changes in FFXIV now, any excitement is overshadowed by the fear they are going to ruin SAM or DRK. Just thinking about SAM now makes me bitter, and i have seriously lost the want to log in and run things

i really hope SE see the effort we forum avoiders have put in here to try and bring our Samurai back to its former glory :3

To be fair to this statement, they did just give DRK a huge QoL update in that they finally made Living Dead usable, as well as changing Blood Weapon to be high ping friendly by making it a stack system. Not to mention, leveling it is more streamlined as they finally moved the second aoe button to lvl 45 instead of 72.

But I've been worried about job changes since ShB made tanks glorified dps. Thank goodness GNB is trying so hard to be a dps.
