Frontline can be fun. But some issues get in the way. For instance, since most players are there only for the roulette exp, they couldn't care less about trying to win. Most don't even know how points are calculated, they just zerg around trying to find someone to kill. Even very simple things like saying "Twin Adder is winning, focus on them" fall on deaf ears. Yesterday I had a match in which we were 200/800, Maelstrom was 150/800, and Twin Adder was 650/800. Yet the entire team was zerging Maelstrom over and over again. They'd respawn and run right back despite me and one other guy calling attention to the fact that we needed to focus on Adder. I was actually told "forget the objective, just vibe". So... Yeah. Nobody cares. And this is not a complaint I have because I believe these people are to blame when I lose. People like that get in the way of my opponents, too. It's just pure RNG. But that takes something away from the experience.

The second issue is that it's just utterly, completely unbalanced and I have no idea how they are going to fix it. Scholar can deal a few million damage in a match with their DOTs. But worse than that are summoner and white mage. Especially summoner. Their LB deals a chunk of burst damage over a very large area. So people join Frontlines in summoner or summoner/white mage premades and cast the their LBs simultaneously. Three summoner LBs are guaranteed to wipe everyone out in the large area it affects. I have seen entire teams wiped that way multiple times. Dude, I even have a screenshot on my PC where you could see 5+ Bahamuts in the same place. That usually guarantees a win. I have no idea how and if they are going to address that, since it is obvious that they (tried to) balance the pvp rework around CC, and how the jobs would play on Frontline was not taken into consideration.

the trouble with fronts it's the fact that it's not adapted to the new pvp mechanic.
CC work because it's a small scales fight, but the front can't work because of the sheer size of the battlefield. an example if you have 4-5 smn drop his wind aoe it can be devastating for the enemy to cross it. it's 6k damage per tick... 4 means 24K per tick and 5 it's 30K.
same for the mch turret... place multiple turret at a place and it become a death area...

It's a casual mode with a lot of randomness by design. It's a three-way battle with random teams, it's obviously not meant to be taken in an ultraserious tryhard way.
Just have fun hitting people and not feeding too much. You will get your wins / achievements / mounts eventually.

At least that's how it was before they revamped the pvp...

The 6.1 update made it garbage.
Before, it was pretty well balanced, with distinct roles (tanks tank, healers heal, etc.) inducing some organisation. Now everyone is a dps with op skills that can easily kill (multiple) players.

I'm going to completely disagree here and say Frontlines is more fun then it ever has been. It's SUPPOSED to be random and chaotic. I'd like to see the 24 man version back though.

In my honest opinion, Frontlines is worse than ever and in dire need of help. I'm reminded of the old Slaughter mode we had back in ARR. The amount of crowd control is horrendous, WHM Imps are everywhere. SMNs are stacking LBs and there is nothing you can do about it. And Guard feels very underwhelming and doesn't protect enough. And the light show of LBs make it really difficult to see sometimes. It's an absolutely cluster **** and I haven't been having fun. Sure I'm getting way more kills than I did in old Frontlines, but I'm not having a good time. I feel locked into playing certain jobs if I want any hope of winning.

I often try to discuss the imbalance of Frontlines in shout/alliance and the only response anyone ever has to say is, "If you don't like it, then don't play". It's hard to have a meaningful conversation about the issues when nobody wants to listen. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I'm quite fearful that SE isn't going to fix the balance issues when 85% of the player base seems to think everything is fine.

Honestly, that combo is pathetic... Yes, people are doing a lot of damage in an area, big deal...

I just saw a Ninja and a Paladin getting every point under in Onsal with the Paladin just throwing a cover on the Ninja and the Ninja just ignoring 2 entire teams worth of damage while getting the point and leaving.

That's all they did. Anytime there would be a fight over who gets to cap point, this duo would just arrive and get the point for themselves. Sometimes they would die but that doesn't mean anything because they don't need any ammount of BHs to do that.

Getting nuked is a matter of organization of 24 people and trying to space out and protect yourself, you can Guard against most nukes... You can't do anything if there's a SINGLE Duo that is just invuln-capping.

It felt like watching a hack taking place in the game, but that's just 6.1 PvP working as intended.

it's just the fact that it is 3-way pvp
if it was organized groups it would be awesome but it's all just roulette-goers that don't give a crap which makes it play out like a bloopers real most of the time

not really a big fan of the robot stuff but at least rival wings only having two sides helped people focus a little bit, but they never even tried giving it a roulette or anything so not sure what the deal is with it

I'm definitely a fan of the Idea of giving us more PvP stuff. I kind of liked CC, even learned to like the matches on the wind map where I know to guard the wind hazzard while everyone just flies up and immediately dies to my burst.

I wouldn't mind a map that throws 48 people against another 48 people into yet more confusing matches (Don't know if the servers can support that, though.) And I never actually managed to get a queue for Rival Wings because for some bizarre reason they decided that Rival Wings didn't deserve their own roulette so nobody queues for those unless there's a moogle event or something, so I can't even give my opinion on them. I just want my fix of chaotic massive battlefronts instead of just small-group skirmishes.

I just entirely lost any taste I had for it as soon as I saw a duo of guys capture an S-Rank Ovoo in front of 48 angry people throwing everything at them while also trying to fight eachother...
