Viera ears don't seem placed right

given the nearly constant complaints about viera and hrothgar from head to feet... you have to wonder if Yoshi P ever wishes he had never introduced them.

not saying anything is unfounded, but very few people seem happy with either for a variety of reasons

His biggest mistake was releasing both races at the same time. He should have went the route of Au ra in only adding each race one at time between a few expansions.

If Yoshi-P should regret anything, it should be that decision.

cant really disagree. Au ra seemed to be a much more considered implementation, whereas viera and hrothgar seemed to have caved to player wishes. but, time will tell where they go I imagine.

I'm not sure if they imagined the game was going to have a 10 year plan after ShB, so the implementation of the last race(s) to the game at that point, as limited, was probably a pretty good idea at the time. A beast race to round out the races, and fan favorite viera.

So true. I just hope when female Hrothgar are added, the devs can start focusing on the problems both the Viera and Hrothgar suffer from separately, while focusing on feedback for both races in a way that proves more beneficial in fixing existing issues instead of trying to quickly please us with poorly planned out fixes.

I think the character creation system needs an upgrade nonetheless. Lets wait and see what the graphical update in 7.0 brings to the table. I hope they reconsider some popular complaints, for example Highlanders having no eyebrows… Also I hope Hrothgars don‘t have to wait until 7.0 to get their situation fixed.

There are just so many things people are wishing/complaining for. I hope to see them invest a higher budget and focus on the character creation system a bit.

I'm sure the profits upon their release, and later fantasia sales have more than made up for that feeling.

I am personally 100% sure that at least part of the reason why the 6.0 story is ultimately "don't blindly follow what you hear on Twitter/ social media" is because of the team hearing the social media fallout of Viera and Hrothgar.

I'd said it before, and I'll say it again ... they shoulda made a taller, long miqote eared race with 4 different bunny tails and called it something new. People like myself came here hounding them for Viera 10 years ago because "Pretty bunny women!". Most people woulda been happy with something that had full functioning head stuff and was rabbit like and pretty. They did this with Au Ra, they took a whole lotta crazy concepts that wouldn't work and trimmed it down to make the beloved race they proved to be. Au Ra are what you get when the devs work with in the confines of their game and try to make something cool, Viera and Hrothgar are what you get when they blindly try to appease fan demands for things that they know wont work with what they can do ingame.

As for the OP, I agree. Their ears seem more ornamental than anything, shoulda just made them have upscaled miqote ears imo.

i've played a viera for 2 and a half years, I think her ears are fine.

To be clear, this is not a complaint against FFXIV as such, because they're replicating a race design from a previous game, but it's something that mildly bothers me and I'm wondering if other people feel the same.

Viera ears seem oddly disconnected from being ears, if that makes sense. They seem too high up, or too forward on the head, or something. Maybe because they end up out of shot in a close-up of the character's face? Or they're just generally too far away from where ears should be.

It's a disconnect I've never felt with Miqo'te – on the contrary I've thought in the past that despite being positioned differently to human ears they still seem a natural part of the character's body.

It's not something I expect to be changed, but I just wanted to say it.

Spotted the normie. Viera's are kemonomimi's for the uncultured that means "animal ear" Viera much like Miqo'te though Miqo'te are a bit divergent from the standard are bunny girls and cat girls. If you google a anime bunny girl, their rabbit ears are smack dab on top of their head excluding Mirko from My Hero Academia. FF14 is an anime inspired game made by Japanese. So of course the bunny girls are going to be bunny girls.

Really what they need to fix is Miqo'te ears and make them look like the loli Miqo'te ears where they're bigger and rounder
if you google a cat girl you'll see the ears look like the ears on the loli Miqo'te's you see in the game.
