    Suggestion. Removal of gender-locked hair.

So they started removing the gender lock on some gear (mostly store bought) allowing for the advent of cat boy maids and bunny boy maids. But there is still a lock on hair. As a dude with long hair, bit annoying how limited hair options are based on gender. And unlike gear it's not like you'd need to change proportions much or anything, literally just allow access to assets that are already there.

You know, you could just choose a female avatar.

But I don't want to play a female avatar. You could also just not lock hairstyles to gender which serves no function and would take next to zero effort to make universal.

This argument does not work. It is a hell of a lot more work for the dev team to take a hairstyle [and attire] clearly designed for female models, and get them to work on males than it to just change to a female.

Your request is the exact reason why I oppose removing restrictions, because it just doesn't stop. You want the attire, then the hair, then the emotes, then a bust slider. It won't stop until your avatar being male is only recognized by the game's engine. Just change to female. Fantasy is really awesome like that.

Hair is literally a matter of changing head size a little. Unlike race it doesn't require much there really isn't much different between the genders here aside fro maybe the Au Ra which are very sexually dimorphic. To go and make the base ones the same wouldn't be too difficult. If a modder can do it for free and it doesn't mess with the code causing crashes everything, no reason they can't do it especially when its less work in the long run than releasing gender locked hairstyles when you can roll out a single hairstyle for everyone.

We already have a bust slider, it does nothing if you notice making it mute. Some gear gives bigger tits than others which also makes no sense. Why do you think every female player runs around in 2B tights and the only tops that give their characters boobs above A-cups. These characters asses otherwise are flatter than mine. And you can't make some family friendly argument when half the female bosses are sexualized as well. It just comes down to laziness. Most asking for sliders arn't asking for jiggle physics anime boobs either, just real-world level differences. But that's a side topic and one I don't really care for but just find amusing.

All I'm asking for is non-gender-locked hairstyles so my character doesn't have shorter hair than I do in real life.

I do not care about your RL hair, and neither does anyone else. Only you care about it. I care about the dev team placing their time and recourses that benefits the entire playerbase rather than a select few with an identity crisis. There are long hair options for males, I can think of at least two; and even the game's actual female avatars have very few long hair options. Many of the players who actually use female avatars would love to have more longer hair options. Ever consider how they would feel if the time the dev team could have to release more of those designs, they are instead going back to the drawing board to make existing styles work for models they were never intended for in the first place.

You can't compare those things against each other because it's not the same people doing the work, even if you overlook the fact that a man with long hair is not the same thing as a woman. (Or is there something we need to be telling Estinien...?)

There are quite a few plain long hairstyles that are currently female-only but would be fine as long styles for men. Some of the race-locked hairstyles or the early universal styles where they were still gendered, like the dreadlocks and the long wavy style. And then you have unlockable styles like Alma's that would look fantastic as a historical men's style. (I would love to dress up one of my male characters with that hairstyle and the High House justaucorps, but my only option for that combination is to crossdress one of my female characters.)

It doesn't matter if there are different teams. This is a matter of knowing how time works.Time is still being allocated towards a rework. If two cars are going to the exact same destination and one takes the main route, while the other takes a detour; time that can never be regained is still lost by the second car that took the detour.

A style like Alma's or any other that is gender locked isn't necessarily an issue of how feasible it is for it to be worn on other races and genders. If that was the case, I would make an issue about hairstyles with cross availability that look absolutely atrocious and was an utter waste of time to implement. It has more to do with those styles having already been released.

The last thing I will mention about time, is how people will shift their arguments depending on how it works for them. Tanks pulling the whole dungeon? Well, we need to save time. Time needed to release restrictions on gear? Eff the dev's time, they need to figure out a way to get it done. See what I mean?

You know it's taken 3 years for Viera and Hrothgar to get shared hairstyles right? It's not as simple when SE are on a tight schedule have deadlines to meet.

They're going out of their way to make clothes unisex, they shouldn't put everything on hold because a few people want to wear a hairstyle that was made for a female character. They're getting around to un-genderlocking things one thing at a time, it'll take a while.

Square Enix have extorted money from Viera and Hrothgar's limitations, but from the outside looking in it seems barely any of that money is invested back into the limited races. How much money have they made from players
fantasia'ing to and from the limited races? We want more race-exclusive hair.
We want them improved, and we want it done within a reasonable time.

Outsource the labor. We have a modding community. Just pick a good one that doesn't require some insane amount of data, pay the modder or ask if they can use it and implement it. They basically do for hairstyle/furniture design contests. Only unlike those this would be already developed working code that to roll out would be no different than downloading and installing yourself. Also, they arn't a damn small indie company but a billion dollar one and this is THE most popular MMO in the world. Pretty sure they can accomplish the herculean feat of cosmetics.
