Housing!! Do you Like the New Way?

This post is about what you think of the way they redid the housing system. "Lottery"

Now I see some good points in this system. it's not a first come first serve anymore. which gives the people that are not able to make it a chance to play the Lottery. To me that is the only Good i see out of this new system.

Now this is Just My Opinion, but i think they still should have a waiting period like they do now for when you buy a Lottery Ticket. But instead of a Lottery it should be a "Silent Bid Auction" Now you only get to Bid Once. The minimum would be what the house is listed for, and the max is up to the buyer. Whoever has the highest bid wins the Lot. Like i said that's just my Opinion.

The other thing is that they should put a waiting period on buying personal housing. Free Companies should get about 2 weeks to be able to get there Housing first. My reason behind this is that some players have multiple characters and they each have they're on house. So, to semi prevent that from happening is why i stated the above comment about FC gets first choice for 2 weeks before players can buy personal housing.

Another way to help out with the housing System for SE to just add some more Housing Wards.

The new housing system is great. The bug stopped a successful turn out and clouded the system, but I believe any system that reduces bot cheating is a welcome change. Btw, I got a zero in a one person lottery so I'm going to win my lot and build a house as soon as the trouble is fixed. If there was no lottery the bots would have taken my house so this is a win win situation the bug just dampened the outcome.

I am satisfied with the Lottery system. It is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing (aside from the Zero bug). I am not satisfied with the FC/Personal distribution of plots though, or the paucity of plots to begin with. In another thread someone had said that the original intent of housing was to be FC only. If it had stayed like this it would have been fine as nobody would have gone without and likely few would have been pining for a home. The moment they opened up plots for personal use though, they opened up a Pandora's box that can never be closed again. There is something deeply ingrained within our social consciousness and that is the need to have a home, whether it be in real life or in game. Now, not all people come to this game wanting a house. Most I suspect, just want to play the core portion of the game. For those that wish to satisfy this need for a home, however, there is that barrier of availability. By making personal homes available but not universally so, this game has not only created disappointment in people, it has also created a class system of haves and have-nots, essentially bringing into the game many of the worst features of human society. And before anyone chimes in about there being apartments, I would like to point out that those tiny boxes are a pale shadow of what the houses are.

I appreciate not having to spam-click a placard anymore and be able to actually play the game I'm paying for but overall housing leavs much to be desired.
Scarping placard clicking wars was just a band aid for a much bigger problem and that is the artificial scarcity of plots. Bots wouldn't find ways to monetize housing if it was readily available for everyone that wants one. Artificial scarcity was an open invitation to RMT extended by SE because they stubbornly refuse to make housing more available.

While I'm okay with the means of acquiring one, I'm far from happy with the housing system overall. I've seen f2p/ b2p games do a much, much better job at it than FFXIV.
And I strongly disagree with bidding because all it means is that RMT will be even more of a problem because everyone wants to dump as much money as possible on a plot for a higher chance of getting it while any newer player is left in the dust. It would be a system that only rewards the richest of the richs.

No, it sucks. I want the old system back, which sucked too. But it was better than this.

I think the lottery system is the right way to go. It was just scuffed by the bug.

Now, I do think larger changes for the housing system as a whole need to be considered and tweaks could/should still be made to the lottery itself, but the lottery based acquisition system is the right acquisition system for the housing set up that we have.

I'm 100% for the lottery and even with the bug believe it's the best way to handle plot acquisition.

I disagree with any mechanism that allows a player to bid, as that disproportionally favors RMT and players/FCs with vast amounts of gil. The beauty of the current lottery is it's accessible to anyone who meets the requirements to own a plot and has the money to do so, and it should remain this way.

The lottery is definitely more equal footing for chance to get a house. The old way only promoted botting to constantly click on the placard and hope it gets the timing perfect to get it....and not lose all their money to the new homeowner who put a retainer there for them to buy overpriced trash from.

Sure, there were bugs with it, and could have probably had more testing done using all scenarios(ranging from 1 person entering to 100 people entering, on random plots), but overall I think it's an improvement that can only be outdone by instanced housing.

Two main issues:
- Lotto lasts too long. 9 days should be shortened to 7 would make it easier to keep track of the duration imo

- Having all entrants return to the plot to collect their money back. It made decorating the lawn kinda awkward that first day
