Lottery extended to 4/29

To be honest I was always against a lottery system but a lot of people asked for that very loudly. Now we have the mess the people asked for. Now it is like I said before. There is no real chance to get a house in the end. For most people it just turns out in endless waiting without their money. And I think a lot a resellers tried to get all the good fc plots with 0 entrys. The 30 days rule is much too short. So they can still sell the houses via (fake)FCs. The person who buys it just have to wait 30 days until the process is done. A time, that too many people will just accept to wait to get their plot 'save'. Yes it's forbidden in the terms of service. But who will controll this? People will go on. I made other suggestions for the housing issue but at least they did what the majority ask for.

And I am no fan of instanced housing, too. One of the cool things of the housing is the fact that you have those housing districts. That you can visit other people's houses and so on. In my eyes instanced housing sounds..., mmh..., how to say that..., just more lonely and boring. And it would take away a lot of value from the houses in people's mind. People are so much interested in that stuff because it's rare an special. So in my opinion we just needed two things. Some more wards and plots (or servers), because all the new players, and some new rules to stop the resellers. Now we have a system of waiting that makes it more complicated and still the reseller problem.

But that's just my opinion. :3

To be fair, there was no real chance for most people to get a house prior to the lottery system either. It boiled down to potentially wasting hours manually clicking a placard (exciting gameplay!), resorting to using a bot, or in rare cases, getting lucky and winning a house after a short period of time. I'm cool with the lottery, even if it does mean that a single house is going to have a ton of entries.

And as for instanced housing, Wildstar had a cool community lot feature. You could join up with 4 of your friends and have this huge island in a single instance. Each person still got their own full-sized portion to decorate, but you could simply run over and visit your friends. You could also go visit other islands to check out their housing. I loved doing that as some people were insanely creative, unlike myself. Instanced housing doesn't have to suck or be lonely.

Before there was the big problem that it was almost impossible to get M and L plots because they were just sold directly, yes. But it was possible to get a plot at all. All people I know never needed longer than 2 weeks to get a plot. It was just a little bit of observing and being patient on the shild. We saw a lot of keyboard macro auto clickers evertime we camped nearby a plot with someone. But they never got the house. We really wondered about this but it was fine.

Now you have to wait and wait and wait, without your money. You can't do much. You can try to make your entry late. But at least it's just waiting.

I personally like the housing districts we have now. I like to walk arround there and see other people's plots.
Instanced housing is not such a good idea. It will cost SE much resources and many people will be like 'oh yeah I have that house, but I don't do much with it'. But well..., in the end its just a game. And people like different things. That's why I said, these things are just my personal opinion. :3

The issue is no matter what system they put into the game the housing will still suck for most of the ppl because the plots are so limited. Adding more wards is just a bandaid solution because those wards will just fill up after one day and we be back to square one, with limited housing for a large number of players. You say instanced housing will cost SE resources but just adding more and more wards will also cost the same if not more resources and honest won't fix anything since the player base is, at least for right now, always growing.

In my eyes, there are one of two ways to fix ff14 housing or at least make it better for major of the player base.
1. Do instance housing for private ownership and maybe leave the wards just for FCs so you can keep that community feel.
2. Improve the apartments so they can be upgraded to larger versions of themselves. Allow ppl to upgrade their small apartments to a med size or large size apartments with an outdoor area for gardening and decoration.

There may be even more ways to make housing better but these are my fav. At the end of the day just adding wards isn't a good solution to an ever-growing problem. Again as you said this is just my personal opinion. :3

But maybe the request for housing wouldn't be that strong if it's a thing that everybody easily can have. People are like this, I don't know why. There are really cool things in the game. But if they are not 'rare' they have almost no value. :/
I think a better system would be enough, together with enough space (enough servers). Before so many new people started with FFXIV there were always some free houseplots.
Even when the number of players exploded there were still free houseplots from time to time, if you observe a lil bit. When SE stops the 45 days timer, then there are almost never free plots. Because all people who never use their house keep their house.

The lottery is also easy to abuse for rich people with multiple accounts and bots. My idea was at first a 90 days of membership, before an fc member can get the lead (and become owner of the fc house).
This would make it very hard for all those resellers. And people who often hopp between fc's are also negativly affected with that 30 days. But the 30 days can't solve the problem.

Second I suggested to shorten the timer to a maximum of 8 hours. For people who wanted to buy a house new, it was so that they had almost no chance within the first hours.
So my idea was to use the first 1-2 hours for some kind of '2nd timer' for people who wanna relocate. So that they have a little timer, too.
So resellers couldn't sell the plot immediately to a relocating person. Because it can take up to 2 hours until the land can be purchased. And in this time (if it's a nice plot) other players with interest to relocate will surely show up and also try and click on the shield. :3

After the first 2 hours, the 2nd timer starts for everyone. But to a maximum of 8h until the land is ready. When there is enough serverspace, like it was in the past, then the system with the housing wards
is no problem and there will be always free plots you can try to get. The big problems were always the resellers who try to get every house just to sell it for moonprices or making gil for rmt and that the space became too less with all the new players.

This is what makes it worse than not having a lottery in ways that people just arent understanding.
Yes, sure, it sucked having to click on the thing for hours. But at least you had that CHANCE and it would all be over within some hours. You could be doing whatever and suddenly notice a house open. and if no one else noticed it before you? You could just swoop in and take it alone. That was how I got mine! It wasnt even up for that long and no one else was around! NOW with this though...man...its forcefully up long enough that a bunch of others are going to show up and put their change in. Now no matter what, you're competing with a bunch of others-AND it's taking like a whole week lol. zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Again, 'oh wah wah but before-' yeah yeah but at least before you could be sneaky and get your way with some dumb luck. Dumb luck isnt an option anymore. Only patience, for about a million years.

Nine more days till the next lottery round begins. I had heard that this maintenance would fix all the problems, but it was just an extension of time. I am currently making all kinds of furniture is preparation of the opening of my ward and I will throw the biggest dance party of all time. I will have a 500k raffle to celebrate the occasion. All are invited without prejudice.

I went to my ward and looked at my lots placard and it said next lottery will be on the 29th. I didn't just make it up.
