But still want to have more and more.
Adding to the pile of workload so things never will get done.

If the flying is ok and working as it should then let it be ok.
Let the developers work on what's currently on the table before adding more to it.

(-Insert Retort that SE is a Multimillion Dollar Company and they have no excuse. Then insert followup that they can just hire more people-)

I haven't complained about Hrothy (I could care less about them tbh but still do wish the hrothy players their ears back) and I don't mind viera either, sad I can't wear all the hats I would on miqo but otherwise enjoy the race and am pleased they add new hair.

I fail to see what your issue is, it's an innocent suggestion that is not likely to happen at all and you are acting like people's suggestions are equivalent to us walking up to SE dev desks and throwing out their current work lol
Mounts in this game could be vastly improved, their movement and how they feel to fly and run around as another said feels stiff. I think at least our chocobo should feel MUCH more special given it is our companion.

Players can ask for whatever they want, it is for the devs to manage their time and decide what takes priority. Just because they see player feedback doesn't mean they will act on it for some time. As we can see from the years of nothing.. hrothy hair was not that high prio compared to making bun bois a thing. I would bet that female hrothgar will be much less bestial so they can avoid the issues they have had with the males. At least I hope they ain't got the males hunchback.

Just because something is good doesn't mean it can't be improved. FFXIV took a lot of inspiration from WoW, it could do with learning a thing or two from GW2.

Oh, my comment wasn't directed to you as if you had complained.
It was said in a general perspective.
I think we all know that there are a lot on the forum who's been complaining about something when it comes to Viera and Hrothgars.
Personally I don't really care about Viera, never did.
And I'm fine with Hrothgars as they are, they told us there would be restrictions so I am taking that into consideration.
(Although the Fantasia requirement was a little off)

And I don't have an issue either.
It's just an observation I've made visiting the forums.
People complaining that things aren't finished yet people ask for more features, items, whatever to be added.
Like, why keep asking for more when complaining about other stuff not getting worked on so it can be finished sometime.
Honestly I find it kinda funny.
What are people thinking with sometimes, I wonder.

I absolutely adore GW2's mount system and would consider it the best I've personally experienced. Each mount comes with its own particular set of skills and traits, and they're used for different reasons. The raptor is pretty quick and can leap over large distances. The skimmer lets you travel on water and is immune to most ground hazards. The griffon lets you glide. The rollerbeetle is incredibly fast, can knock down enemies, and can break open secret walls. There is more to each mount, but that at least gives an idea. There are 9 mounts in total.

One thing that I really appreciate is that there is no true-flying mount. You have a griffon for gliding (and you CAN go pretty far if you're skilled with it), and you have a skyscale which can gain height, but both require using the terrain to take advantage of their skills, and both will eventually need to come back to ground. You're not able to simply bypass entire zones by flying straight over them.

Another thing is that the animations and physics of the mounts themselves are great and just feel more real. They lean into turns, they look behind them when you're walking backwards, they don't instantly come to a grinding halt when you stop moving forward. Little details can add A LOT of flavor.

In comparison, XIV's mounts and flying feels.....cheap. Oh hey! You, elephant! You can fly! Adorable fat cat? Up in the air you go! It doesn't make any sense, although in XIV I suppose there's little reason why you shouldn't fly everywhere due to a lack of overworld activities (that's a rant for another day). But yeah, when everything can do everything, it can feel boring.

As far as XIV's mount animations, I'd say they're OK, but nothing great. They are totally lacking on physics though, and they feel stiff when moving around. You're basically just tilting on an axis, and it doesn't feel or look great.

With all that said, I don't think you're wrong with your statement. Yes, the flying and mount system accomplishes what XIV is going for. However, that doesn't mean its fantastic, and there are definitely better mount systems out there which put it to shame (IMO). But again, it gets the job done for what XIV wants. It is what it is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What one person considers a shortcoming another considers it a feature.

I loved my Griffon but having to constantly be on the lookout for peaks and safe spots got tiring. Last night I was doing hunting log on a low level job on an alt while dinner was cooking parts of which needed attention at various times. When the timer went off for the next step I jumped on my mount and flew up to avoid trash mob aggro. In GW2 if I was lucky there would have been someplace convenient to perch. Even still it would require several hops. More often than not I'd have to port someplace safe.

I understand the desire for more active gameplay features and sympathize but I'd rather not have my QoL sacrificed for it.

I lived through those days but totally forgot about them. lol. I've mostly comes to terms with XIV being the way it is, but some days it annoys me more than others (like today!).

And fair enough! Although this is why you do the skyscale quest and can hover wherever you please! Flying can definitely be a nice QoL perk, but IMO it can also invalidate a lot of the world and existing content. This game already feels like a glorified chat/waiting room to me, and so being able to fly anywhere you like, while skipping everything below, only adds to that feeling. I know flying in MMOs is fairly divisive, so it's not like there's any single solution that's going to work for everyone. I just wish things felt more purposeful here. :X

When did they say there was mounted combat? The Dracthyr have some flying combat abilities but that's not the same thing as Dragonriding having a mounted combat element. This seems more like a flying version of LOTRO's War-steed system but without the combat part. The one flying combat ability they showed off for the Dracthyr Evoker was basically a combination of a warrior's Charge ability with the Frost DK's Frostwyrm's Fury ability that basically calls down a frostwyrm for close air support, laying down an icy column attack that flies overhead in front of you. This one just physically moves the Dracthyr player.
