I'm sure I'm not the first or the last to say this - but please get rid of the beckon quests. The are extremely frustrating to do given the very short distance over which the beckon works. Quests should be fun - as opposed to enraging.

Good news; They pretty much did. Just play through. You should almost be done with them.
One thing that helps, make a macro as:
/target <f>
/beckon
Then assign that macro to a hotbar.
Now, when you start an escort type quest, first target the NPC you are to /beckon, right click their target bar, and choose Focus.
This will mark that NPC as the target of your focus.
Then, when you need to use the beckon emote function, just tap your hotbar'd macro.
That way, no matter what you are doing, even while fighting off attackers, it will automatically switch to the NPC and /beckon them.

Fortunately, the mechanic is mostly relegated to levequests that can be ignored.
It would be a nice QoL improvement if they changed the beckon quests to function like the new NPC accompaniment. It wouldn't bother me even if they had to keep the first /beckon before the NPC followed as it is all of the ones in the middle I never liked.
