What happens if one of the players avatars aren't a high enough level for the dungeon - can they just not join or will their avatars not get experience?
Leaders avatars as they control them, and they down level to match, and gain experience for the dungeon the same as they normally would. So running dungeons over and over with the same members you would swap or just use whoever needs to level. There are a lot of options on how to solve this. Could even give exp to both players characters, or split it or something like that. Just a decision.

I had a similar thought recently. I would love to be able to just play with my wife in a dungeon with the trust system. The A.I. for trusts is really well-designed, so it would be fun.

Would love to play with my SO, so something like this would be ideal.

This seems like a very common request. We just want 2 player trusts a lot of the time.

I do enjoy doing this in FFXI, but that isn't possible to do in XIV as in XI you aren't shoehorned into a formation when entering instances so you can enter as a party, zone in, break party form up separate parties summoning your own trust line ups (in XI they are basically Spirit Ashes from Elden Ring/ NPC co op summon signs from those line of games [but pre-dating Spirit Ashes and I imagine developed in parallel with FROM's games but my comparison isn't to imply SE or FROM ripped each other off but rather they functionally act in a similar way as opposed to how XIV's iteration functions]) and forming an alliance inside the instance and proceed to bully bosses. I always hated how content design in XIV means you need to have the requisite number of people (prior to undersized/content being allowed to be undersized) when I enjoyed XI's approach of "if you can somehow pull this off with less people have at it but GL"

Do wish I could summon my recruited NPCs from my barracks and just kill time with them in FATEs or w/e (assuming such functionality comes with XI's built in commands to toggle display of other payer's NPCs on and off as well as the command that allows them to remain on screen but otherwise ignored when you're trying to target mid combat).

But if you make trust system multiplayer than it is no longer a single player game. Yall need to pick one and stick to it.

Gotta swing it as a couch-co-op game. It should allow me to play with my wife, and my mistress.
There's only three of us, so we'd need to have an AI buddy to join us in our fun.

Well I never wanted to solo a dungeon actually I always wanted the trust system to be something I could use to 2 or 3 man a dungeon. Then whoever I am playing with, usually my wife but sometimes a guild member, we can hop into a dungeon.

Who does it hurt to have it be more variable and flexible? Why are more options bad?
