    Market board needs a rework

i'd prefer if it was similar to guild wars 2 in that you can just sell items instantly and people can just list the item at any price they want, and people can buy it.
it wouldn't get rid of bots, but it would stop the need to babysit the retainer prices all day.

the marketboard of this game is very archaic indeed.

The game's economy is in ruins as it's one undercut on top of another. I barely put out a food yesterday to sell at 10k, and the price dropped to 5k.

Furthermore, the impossibility of buying just the amount you need bothers me. Sometimes I want to buy a small amount of items, but there are only bots selling stacks of 99. I could buy and resell, but I know that if I buy today for 5k each item, in 2 hours the price will be 1k each, and I will only have loss, if I manage to sell.

I particularly like your solution. Bots would clearly sell to people placing orders, as they don't care about value, and normal people would sell in the traditional way. Of course, there would still be bots undercutting prices, but I believe it would be a relief.

I greatly prefer GW2's Ah system to XIV. I especially love the buy orders and would love to have those in game.

WoW changed the way their auction house works a few years ago. So now, no matter how the stack was posted, buyers can buy what they need for it. So if a 99 stack is posted for 200 gold each, but I only need 5, I can buy the 5 I need for 1000 total.

Everything having to do with the market board in FFXIV is extremely cumbersome to an absurd degree. I'm very glad they now have the "already collected" filter. I think have the ability to simply say how many you want to buy and also for listings to auto-expire sooner so that players have to manually relist (making undercutting less needed) would go a long way. But the browsing options definitely need to be better as well.

The issue there is the majority of buyers would just place Orders, because you could name a low price, place your order and a bot would happily supply it for you. Now, you as the legitimate seller have less undercuts but there's also zero demand for your items (everyone got them cheap from bots via orders) and they never sell. Systems like this work better in games with a healthy supply and demand.

I wouldn't mind a Buy Order system or whatever else GW2 has, if only for the fact that it wouldn't fix much and would highlight just how much the economy is in shambles. Then maybe they'd actually take it seriously. Supply is through the roof, bots are rampant, crafting is worthless and demand is lower than ever.

However I do agree some market board QoL would be great.

Has anyone played RuneScape before? They could make one like the Grand Exchange. You can only see the average buying/selling price of an item, but not how much players buying/selling for and how many are buying/selling. You put an
offer and the game will automatically find the offering with lowest price gap. The same goes for selling.

Not a total expert when it comes to ways to battle botting, but I do wonder if setting a limitation on how many times a retainer can adjust prices per day would help. They could even set this limitation on the item itself based on how frequent an item sales, meaning the more it does, the less it can be adjusted. What would happen is if the item has reached the max per day, even though you retainer can still adjust prices, it wouldn't be able to for that particular item.

In this manner, I think items such as meals, medicines, and intermediary mats would have 'per-day' going rates. What I worry about though is completed goods being valued much less than the mats to make them.
